Layer Liar

I refuse to acknowledge that old man winter is right around the corner.

Nor’Easters.  Blizzards.  The dreaded Snow Days (mamas everywhere shudder with that phrase!).  Nope, not coming.

Sundresses, jean jackets maybe add a shawl or a cape if it’s really chilly.  Open toe booties help keep the dream alive!

Slip a turtleneck or a white shirt under the dress if the thermometer is being particularly challenging.

Just keep denying the inevitable.

Once upon a time in a land known for its cold weather

there was a crazy good mild fall

where all a damsel needed to wear was

Boots and a dress.

Fairy tales do come true!

Back to the Future Jacket

Futuristic Metalics are changing outerwear.

Outerwear needs to be warm.  Obviously.  But why not add a little color, texture or shine?

adidas by Stella McCartney has a fun metallic crop jacket that is ridiculously warm and efficient as a wind breaker.  Safe to say my hair speaks to the wind factor.

The fact that it resembles the delorean silver car in Back to the Future is the perfect reason to profile it on Back to the Future Day!

Fishermans Knit

They don’t really.

But the Irish sure do!

This classic cream colored knit sweater needs to be added to your closet.

Historically the Irish left lanolin in the wool, so the Aran sweaters were waterproof – a big selling feature for fishing off the Irish coast.

It looks like a kazillion bucks when paired with a knee length secretary skirt and a tall pair of leather boots.

Or with ripped jeans and rain boots.

Or on top of your favorite dress with a pair of ankle boots.

Or with leggings (as long as your caboose is covered) and a pair of slip on sneakers in leopard pony hair (yummmmm).

But it does not cost a kazillion bucks.  True story I grabbed mine in the Dublin airport for €40.  No wonder Irish eyes are smiling!

NYFW a la ‘burbs

There was a pity party happening in the suburbs.
Fashion blogger and style editor couldn’t go to NYFW. Too many commitments in my other role as a mom.
Luckily, instagram and the grooviest online fashion feeds allow me the super human combination of being super mama and fashion obsessed blogger all in a day’s work!

Truly all my technological fashion feeds are in direct thanks to Christopher Bailey, the CEO and design director of Burberry.

Christopher changed fashion forever when he permitted a live feed of his fashion show in February 2010.  Before this landmark event fashion shows were strictly for buyers and editors and certainly NOT for suburban moms!

The greatest luxury is being able to watch live video feeds of the shows (hello phenomenal new playlists!!!), translate the fashions into suburban mom-speak and write posts for the blog, news sites and magazine, all while running the corporation of home, husband and children!

This was Alexander Wang’s gift to his New York audience, along with his return to street wear FIERCE collection, British rapper Lady Leshurr.

Seriously add it to your workout playlist NOW!

Other designers tapped it back in the form of nineties artists, Willie Nelson and of course using the appropriately titled “begging for threads” tee hee!

Tune in tomorrow for a posting dedicated to the simplicity of Spring 2016 Fashion.  Imagine that!

Sarong SO Right!

The next time you find yourself longingly stroking a scarf or sarong

thinking that yet another purchase would be “so wrong” (tee hee)

think lovingly of THE easiest, chicest beach outfit option, and swipe that credit card like a boss!

T-shirt, espadrilles or flip flops and GO Beach Baby GO!
