NYFW a la ‘burbs

There was a pity party happening in the suburbs.
Fashion blogger and style editor couldn’t go to NYFW. Too many commitments in my other role as a mom.
Luckily Vogue.com, instagram and the grooviest online fashion feeds allow me the super human combination of being super mama and fashion obsessed blogger all in a day’s work!

Truly all my technological fashion feeds are in direct thanks to Christopher Bailey, the CEO and design director of Burberry.

Christopher changed fashion forever when he permitted a live feed of his fashion show in February 2010.  Before this landmark event fashion shows were strictly for buyers and editors and certainly NOT for suburban moms!

The greatest luxury is being able to watch live video feeds of the shows (hello phenomenal new playlists!!!), translate the fashions into suburban mom-speak and write posts for the blog, news sites and magazine, all while running the corporation of home, husband and children!

This was Alexander Wang’s gift to his New York audience, along with his return to street wear FIERCE collection, British rapper Lady Leshurr.

Seriously add it to your workout playlist NOW!

Other designers tapped it back in the form of nineties artists, Willie Nelson and of course using the appropriately titled “begging for threads” tee hee!

Tune in tomorrow for a posting dedicated to the simplicity of Spring 2016 Fashion.  Imagine that!

Sarong SO Right!

The next time you find yourself longingly stroking a scarf or sarong

thinking that yet another purchase would be “so wrong” (tee hee)

think lovingly of THE easiest, chicest beach outfit option, and swipe that credit card like a boss!

T-shirt, espadrilles or flip flops and GO Beach Baby GO!

Jet Lag Plan

After 4 weeks of vacation (#spoilt) reversecommuter is back…

armed with THE best plan to combat jet lag!

Red White Blue & You!

Happy Almost July 4th Weekend!

I decided to celebrate early to give you a last minute chance to overnight a cute outfit for the loooooong weekend.

RED is for Rosie.  Rosie Assoulin’s red for Resort 2016 is available now at Moda Operandi and practically begs for sparklers!

(reversecommuter’s red Rosie Assoulin pants are from the Spring 2015 Collection)

White belongs to Jonathan Simkhai (the SIGH is silent in his name but OHSO there in his clothes!).

His white cutout oxford dress is the perfect piece to take you from picnic to pier to fireworks!

Blue is all about ALC’s Santo Sleeveless Dress.  Can’t you just see yourself zipping around the corners in your antique convertible, scarf tied hair, racing to get to the party?!  Classic elegance and ease wrapped up in a sale price!

Raise the champs flute to the Red White and Blue, and while you are at it, celebrate you!!!!!!!

Fancy Flip Flops

Running across the pool deck to stop the five year old from jumping in fully clothed for the 8th time today – no problem, no slipping, and still styling.  RHEA’s fancy flip flops. IMG_8562 Booting it across the gravel driveway before your daughter wipes out on her skateboard ramp?  Fear not superhero mama, RHEA has your back with their patented micro channel treads.  Cool to look at and even more cool knowing you won’t wipeout wearing these. IMG_8564 RHEA was founded by Cornell students who were slipping and sliding all over Ithaca New York – have you been there?  It is really cold, wet and slippery up there! 31a6c2627a0a26f7eb0dee03ec1caa8c_original Microtread Griptech soles are what make RHEA flip flops so unbelievably fantastic – you cannot slip on these.  RHEA is named after the Greek Goddess of Comfort, and they are cute too!  The scientific technology that is built into the soles and treads are what make them fancy, not to mention the rainbow assortment of sole colors options. IMG_8565 Brilliant yellow, gorgeous black and gold, spumoni green, patent white, single or double strap – whatever outfit you are trying to compliment RHEA flip flops have it.  The really great thing about buying a pair of RHEA flip flops right now is that you are supporting this start-up AND saving some money!  The shoes are available exclusively on Kickstarter.com.  Go shop and stop wiping out! IMG_8563 **full disclosure – please note that reversecommuter received a sample pair of RHEA flip flops but was not paid for this review, nor for the numerous times worn since!**

Sunshine & Scales

Animal prints, a basic addition to any wardrobe.  Why not bring out the animal instinct with the Sunshine?

Snake print in a blue hue from Equipment.

Paired up with a pair of Gap shorts (not every piece needs to break the bank!) and a pair of patent Lanvin ballet flats.

Now go cheer on that baseball /  soccer / lacrosse game Super Mom…but don’t forget the SPF – only the clothes are snake like, not your skin!

Fashion & Finance Friday!

Springtime Weekends – potential patio openings, tulips a plenty & gorgeous outfits come out from beneath big winter coats!

Coachella isn’t just about music, fashion is coming to the dessert in a BIG way!  CFDA will be present for the first time, and reverse commuter favorite designer Jonathan Simkhai (also a member of the CFDA) will be playing int he dessert too.  H&M, PopSugar and Trina Turk will also be at the festival.

Coachella, which started in 1999, has evolved into a fashion statement as much as a music festival, so it really does make perfect sense for the fashion world to start paying attention! Click here to see what a Coachella Mama wears!

Net-a-porter and Chanel have teamed up for the very first time to launch Coco Crush, a collection of fine jewelry that will be available online at net-a-porter.com for a three week period.  Click here to sign up for shopping, and mark your calendars for April 15th.

Speaking of Chanel – and what prettier, quiltier, chain-strapped topic is there?  Chanel shoppers in China are very pleased with the price adjustments Chanel made on April 8th.  Click here to read more about this from an earlier post.

A 20% price drop is WAY significant and it might just seem like Chanel is having a sale in Shanghai today!

Enjoy the weekend – go get a pedicure and wear those fabulous strappy shoes (that have been buried in the back of the closet all winter), while sipping champs on a patio!
