Bikini Squeeze

No, this is not a posting on a fashion blog with pictures of a woman who has had 3 children.  #PHEW

It is a posting on a fashion blog about how summer doesn’t end until September 21, and the weather is all about bathing suits and not so much about suede and wool.  So why not do a little bikini shopping to help soothe the sadness you are feeling over the kiddos going back to school today?  tee hee

reversecommuter was recently in Italy and THE trend is all about the ruffle bikini with a flossy bottom!

Bikini Lovers from Italy (seriously, could there be a better name?) is a GORGEOUS line of brilliant prints and bright fun happy colors sprinkled throughout a phenomenal bikini line of ruffles and butt floss (start doing those squats while reading this!).

There is even an accompanying diaper cover baby bottom line – adorable!!!!

Almamia from Columbia is a line that every woman should buy from.

Not only are the bikinis BEYOND BEAUTIFUL but they are hand made by an army of 80 single mothers, how ridiculously amazing is that?!

Oh, and this is what they create.  #WOAH

Get that new suit, lather up the SPF and go outside and play!

Don’t worry, your secret is safe with me, I won’t tell the children this is what we mamas really do when they are at school!

Sarong SO Right!

The next time you find yourself longingly stroking a scarf or sarong

thinking that yet another purchase would be “so wrong” (tee hee)

think lovingly of THE easiest, chicest beach outfit option, and swipe that credit card like a boss!

T-shirt, espadrilles or flip flops and GO Beach Baby GO!

Jet Lag Plan

After 4 weeks of vacation (#spoilt) reversecommuter is back…

armed with THE best plan to combat jet lag!

Sexy Lingerie Partout en Paris!

reversecommuter spent Easter in Paris and as a result I have come to conclusion that French women love their lingerie.  Like really love their lingerie.  As I am quite sure the French men do as well ;)  Maybe even like lingerie more than les patisseries (bakery).

It is truly everywhere in Paris.   Walking about the Parisian streets one is suddenly in possession of a burning desire to buy MANY lacy, frilly pieces of lingerie in a great variety of colors and styles.  A neutral t-shirt bra did not make the shopping list AT ALL!

Printemps is a gorgeous, huge, designer stocked department store that has dedicated an entire floor just to frilly bits.  Beautiful, florals, bright hot pinks, seductive blacks, lacy, racy, frilly, sexy, sumptuous lingerie.

Aubade is one of reversecommuter’s favorite lingerie lines, and whenever I am in Europe I try to stock up due to better selection and price.  Their trademark lace up design is trés coquette (very flirty).

La Perla is another crowd pleaser that held major real estate in the Printemps store.  DROOLWORTHY lingerie.

La Perla’s Everyday Essentials is a new line, softer pricing and ridiculously soft cotton.  reversecommuter has numerous pairs of the drawstring pants and tanks – makes for great post bubble bath hangout wear, comfy with a subtle side of sexy (and less than a pair of yoga pants).

There is also Princess Tam Tam, which has stand alone stores plus is in Printemps.  Great selection and even better prices.

Sort of a sexier version of Victoria’s Secret, imagine that!

So here is a golden nugget of knowledge.  Lingerie makes the outfit.  It reminds you that  you are STILL the sexy little vixen you were before becoming a mother, a chauffeur, a cook, a laundress and a nose wiper extraordinaire.  So take a moment to tour the links littered throughout this post, and treat yourself (and the one you love) to a quick Parisian update to your wardrobe.

Tan Not Included, Style Guaranteed

Sometimes the universe is aligned and the fashion piece is perfect.

It didn’t hurt that the setting was a tropical stretch of beach on the Mexican Riviera and that the shop is the cutest little white box holding the most wondrous colors of the rainbow cut into flowy silhouettes that work on every single post beach babe that walks in!

reversecommuter first happened upon Josa three years ago on my first visit to Tulum (insert sighs, floating hearts and happy faces here).

Josa’s coverups walk right off the beach into the bar, restaurant or wherever.

Some models come with built in bras, some are made of über forgiving jersey that hides almost every single sticky finger print your child offers up, and you still look WOAH at the end of the day because the material, print and pattern are still fun and fresh!

Josa Tulum has just launched their new & improved website which makes it MUCH easier to grab a little piece of boho beachy style, even when the graying chunks of snow are still littering the ground – I am so not kidding, the stuff refuses to melt!

Josa Tulum went to NYC for coterie in February (think massive fashion shopping event for store buyers), so fingers crossed there will be some BIG news from that wondrous little shop sometime in the very near future…hint hint #calypso…

Itty Bitty It Bags

Gucci Spring 2015 Collection pieces are everywhere.  Suede horse bits of deliciousness are peppered through the pages of magazines, both editorial and advertisements.  Ironic considering this was Frida Giannini’s final collection before being ushered rather quickly out the back door,  (Click here for more on that).

But I digress…

The really exciting sugar cube from the home of the sexy Italian horsebit is the Itty Bitty It bag.  Specifically the Lady Web, a mini chestnut suede shoulder bag with the iconic green & red strap.
Fun fact!  Did you know the original 1950’s green & red Gucci strap used on loafers and bags was created after the underbelly girth in a horse’s saddle.
The Lady Web is priced at $2100, feel free to whiny at that!
Prada has captured reversecommuter’s heart with its hot pink itty bitty Saffiano Mini Galleria Crossbody Bag in Peonie.
One quick stop at the Prada Soho boutique and Cupid did his dirty work on me!
Paris Fashion Week officially fermè-d yesterday, and Miu Miu delivered a thunderously significant show.
Perhaps the cutest bolt of thunder was the itty bitty Miu Miu IT Bags.  File the Top Handle Bag under “ICANTEVEN!”

Fashion & Finance Friday!

I will not comment about the weather.

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Winter demands creativity.  Activities of the indoor persuasion become highly desirable.  Feeling culturally fancy in a fashion history kind of way?  GREAT!  There are four bastions of fashion that are currently on exhibit in museums around the world.

Lanvin, specifically the grande dame herself, Jeanne Lanvin, who founded the fashion house in 1889, is being feted in Paris at the Palais Galleria until August 23rd.

Lanvin at the Palais Galliera

Alber Elbez refused to submit any of his Lanvin designs for the exhibit so as to emphasize the simplistic beauty of fashion design being that of a seamstress and her hands, and it also displays the continuum of the style of Lanvin that Alber delivers.

Ralph Pucci is sharing some of his mannequins in NYC the end of March.  Specifically in an exhibit at The Museum of Arts and Design (MAD).

Pucci the designer was initially a mannequin sculptor, creating some of the most beautiful, curvaceous, ethnic and socially representative mannequins from the 1970’s through to today. His mannequins have been dressed by DVF, Anna Sui and many others.

Speaking of the 70’s, The Fashion Institute of Technology’s Museum in NYC, is hosting an exhibit showcasing Yves Saint Laurent and Haltson’s work that defined the sexy groovy vibe of 70’s fashion.

Think Studio 54 fashion, some of them donated by Tina Chow, Lauren Bacall and Paloma Picasso – imagine diving into those closets!!!!

The clothing is iconic and timeless yet at the same time clearly represents the 70’s, which is an absolute testimony and tribute to their talents.

So grab the kiddos, dress up so you don’t feel like a schlep in a puffer coat and hit the museums.  Gain a little culture and enjoy a celebratory glass of champs on your new found grey matter!

Don’t let the weather interrupt your fabulous weekend!!!!!!!!!!
