Layer Liar

I refuse to acknowledge that old man winter is right around the corner.

Nor’Easters.  Blizzards.  The dreaded Snow Days (mamas everywhere shudder with that phrase!).  Nope, not coming.

Sundresses, jean jackets maybe add a shawl or a cape if it’s really chilly.  Open toe booties help keep the dream alive!

Slip a turtleneck or a white shirt under the dress if the thermometer is being particularly challenging.

Just keep denying the inevitable.

Classy Classic

Classic is in!

That is the message delivered in New York this week by a majority of the presenting designers.

Proenza Schouler rejigged the double breasted blazer, opening their show with a sleeveless jacket wrapped up in a Pussy Galore meets the KFC Colonel’s skinny black bow tie.  Nothing represents classic fashion more than black and white.

Click here to watch the Proenza Schouler Spring 2016 show – it is a lesson in fashion magic.

The spectacularly sexy cool white designs found in Jonathan Simkhai’s Spring 2016 Collection should make every woman deliriously happy!  The cut and style flow and ooze with style.

This could get dangerous!!!!

Michael Kors is THE gentleman of classic clothing.  His Spring 2016 Collection is clean, forever fashion that glided across the runway and made buyers, editors and fashion lovers drool! The simplest design with the cleanest of lines in the very best of fabrics and colors.

Kors also brought out a bouquet of decadence in brocade floral pieces.  The richness in their design and material is beyond compare, and an investment in his clothing guarantees a healthy roi!

Budget wise Michael Kors also offers a lower priced line, Michael Michael Kors which is always influenced by his ready-to-wear designs.  So these fashions will easily translate into mall shopping!

Tomas Maier aka Mr. Miami, is all about linen, full skirts, maxi dresses, shirt dresses, pinks and reds.  Simple one piece dressing – perfection in ease  and style.

Now if we can all just ride out the 70’s vibe for Fall 2015…

Red White Blue & You!

Happy Almost July 4th Weekend!

I decided to celebrate early to give you a last minute chance to overnight a cute outfit for the loooooong weekend.

RED is for Rosie.  Rosie Assoulin’s red for Resort 2016 is available now at Moda Operandi and practically begs for sparklers!

(reversecommuter’s red Rosie Assoulin pants are from the Spring 2015 Collection)

White belongs to Jonathan Simkhai (the SIGH is silent in his name but OHSO there in his clothes!).

His white cutout oxford dress is the perfect piece to take you from picnic to pier to fireworks!

Blue is all about ALC’s Santo Sleeveless Dress.  Can’t you just see yourself zipping around the corners in your antique convertible, scarf tied hair, racing to get to the party?!  Classic elegance and ease wrapped up in a sale price!

Raise the champs flute to the Red White and Blue, and while you are at it, celebrate you!!!!!!!

A Nice Bit of Skirt

Skirts are a girl’s best friend once the snow melts.

Easy to pair with a simple t-shirt during the day, especially when the skirt is Yigal Azrouel’s print jersey skirt with an embellished waist.

Add a sexy spaghetti strap top for evening.  How insane is this Dolce & Gabbana printed brocade midi skirt?!  MAMA MIA!!!!

Slap on a pair of pull-on sneakers with a fun ruffled red skirt and a white t-shirt by J Brand + Simone Rocha

Or a pair of stiletto sandals and a cutout crop top with a perfectly peachy flared midi skirt from Jonathan Simkhai

Skirts are the perfect Spring piece – fun, flirty, swingy and sexy!  Stella McCartney’s Jordan skirt delivers all four adjectives with a side of bias cut.

ps did you know the word “skirt” is slang for a girl?  How absolutely perfect is that?

Dress Me Dolly

Mother’s Day is only 5 more sleeps!  Girls it is time to plan your Brunch outfit.

Mother’s Day Brunch means getting everyone else clean, dressed and wrestling the boys into the dreaded blazer!  Doesn’t leave a lot of time for preening and primping.

Solution – the dress.  One piece.  Pull it on over your head and go.  This is good.  Here are a few front runners in reversecommuter’s humble opinion.  Click the pic to buy it.

Now the biggest hurdle ahead is the choice between a bellini or a bloody mary!

Cut It Out!

Designers are slicing and dicing…

and the results are sexy, summery and spectacular!

Alexander Wang sliced up the back of his stretch crepe mini dress in perfect summer sky blue.

Stella McCartney got her hands on a pair of scissors and snipped up a cotton ribbed-knit dress in a champagne yellow that begs for a heatwave, but is so simplistically perfect reverscommuter would wear it now!

Donna Karan New York’s cutout jersey top smacks of eighties’ roller skates and disco, updated perfectly for today.

Jonathan Simkhai’s Spring 2015 Collection shatters the definition of cool with pieces that combine skillfully designed clothes with clever textures perforated, cutout and resembling shards of shattered glass.

Everyone in celebrityland is wearing his and it is no wonder why!
