Everyday Formal Affair

Tuxedo stripes are SO in and not just for summer weddings and not just for the boys!

These pants are from Paige Black Label, as in Paige everybody’s favorite denim designer.  How cute would these be with a bright colored t-shirt, sandals or even black flip flops?  Find them on Net-a-Porter, of course!  (I absolutely love net-a-porter)

Yigal Azrouel who I am also not shy about LOVING offers this stunning grey suit with white tuxedo stripes.  Yummy.  Simply Yummy.

But my current obsession has to be this tan and ORANGE striped suit by Joseph.  How divine is the unexpected jolt of orange running up & down the leg!  Blazer $895, pants $395.  The one and only U.S boutique is in NYC and the phone number is 212-570-0077, trust me, they are more than happy to ship it to you.  🙂

Summer Boobies 911

How’s that for a title?  🙂

As noted, I have a little love affair going on with Acne.  Their designs, materials and cuts are gorgeously clever and unique!  This is my newest acquisition.

The silk is quite sheer and the open slit back is a little bit of a challenge, especially regarding lingerie accompaniments.

Problem Solved!!!!  Top Hats!  No need for a pesky bra, just slap these nipple concealers on and off you go to a patio, a party, a dance, whatever, without worries, they stay in place without any petal outlines or straps.

Went to a charity dinner last night, with quite a few of my favorite friends.  One fab friend wore a bustier made entirely out of recycled ties!

Attention Charlie, all of your angels are waiting for your telephone call!

Finance & Fashion Friday!

Zegna, one of my husband’s fave labels, scored an impressive 92% increase in profits in 2011! And is planning on a little boutique building spree – plans to open 50 new shops next year, a third of them in China. To celebrate the banner year, each Zegna employee is going to get €1000 – Love that!

Poor Quirky Betsey Johnson has just filed for Chapter 11. All her stores will be closing and 350 employees will be out of work. It sad, especially when you picture that fabulous 70 year old designer cartwheeling across the stage after her shows.

Designer Geese and Wheatgrass

It gets really cold in Canada.  I recently experienced a little taste of that myself up in Toronto.  So it makes perfect sense that the Canadians have a niche on gorgeous snow gear!

Canada Goose (yup, that is the name of the company) designs these phenomenal down filled, fur hooded bombers.  Hello Bright Pink, I think you could help me like winter more!

There are also fur trimmed hats, lighter weight spring / fall jackets and there is even a children’s’ line…TOO CUTE!

During my trip to Toronto I hit the St. Lawrence Market – an absolute not-to-miss if you are ever up there.  There are over a hundred vendors, screaming their lungs out trying to get your business.  Cheese mongers, butchers, olive oil shops, seafood shops, fruits and vegetables, you eat it they sell it there, and have been selling it there since 1803!

Whenever I go to the market I hit the mouth watering St Urbain Bagels (OMG TOOO DELISH FOR WORDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and grab a fresh shot of wheatgrass (that green is SO the green a lot of designers have used this Spring, don’t you think?)

Zen with my Nail Polish

I realize it’s a stretch but some mornings the outfit really is inspired by the nail color!

So today the color is a natural, hence the Marni top and Louboutin nude patent heels.
Truth be told, the nail color is beach but it’s a smidge too cold for bathing suit attire!

Pink is the New Fabulous!

Pink Tartan that is!

Canadian designer Kimberley Newport-Mimran creates Pink Tartan’s fantabulously gorgeous clothing!

The company’s head office is located in NYC and thankfully Pink Tartan is sold through out the US, but the flagship store is located in Yorkville, the only area to shop in when visiting Toronto.  Lucky me, I got to pop in just the other day!

The bright colors pop throughout the store, yellows, bright whites, pinks (obviously), oranges, blues and every other shade and hue you can think of.  Flirt-girly dresses, boardroom-beautiful button downs (which would rock equally well with a bleached out pair of cut-offs or white jeans), brilliant espadrilles, blazers and cardigans dipped in tie-dye, and a little bit of leather to keep things really interesting!

My absolute desire is the flower-perforated leather shift …divine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trail Blazers!

Smythe jackets make me drool.  Not a particularly pretty look for me, but I cannot help it – Smythe makes jackets that are that fabulous!

Smythe is the product of two working moms (yet another reason to love their designs) based in Toronto, and their blazers are huge with anyone (Hollywood and elsewhere) who love clean lines, versatility and an a-bun-dance of style!

To celebrate the Canadian Winter Olympics in 2010, Smythe designed this little hooded piece of deliciousness, made out of the iconic Hudson’s Bay Trapper Blanket (I still want one!!!!!)

TNT has collaborated with Smythe for an exclusive micro collection.  The navy blue linen with the gold buttons was my fave…

Blooms and Booties!

There is a row of amazing flower shops on Avenue Road in Toronto, and whenever I am there I have to take a bunch of pictures and buy a ton of flowers!

As I bid adieu to Canada, I had to squeeze in another fab boutique find!  Yorkville – the chichi-est of chichi shopping areas in Toronto, has a fantabulous boutique called TNT.  The selection of top designers is impressive (Acne, Philip Lim, James Perse, Smythe, Theyskens Theory, etc) but it was the shoe department that really wowed me with their unique selection…and let’s face it, I am not easily impressed by shoes…easily OBSESSED but not easily IMPRESSED!  🙂

Those studded Chloe booties are divine, and truth be told I have been coveting them from afar for a little while now.  The two lines I had not met before and am now COMPLETELY in love with are Golden Goose Boots (from Venezia & sold in the US through Barneys) and Marsell Shoes (from Italy as well & sold in the US via The Corner).

Chunky, clunky delish booties and open toe shoes in crazy soft Italian leather and ankle biter-height cowboy boots are my absolute obsession…how happy was I in TNT?!

The last picture is a simple homage to the Isabel Marant Jenny boot … just because it is too cool for school!!!
