J. Crew shouted from the rooftop that their profits had nearly doubled in this first quarter, compared to last year. Their revenues read an amazing $503.5 million, and the profit was a cool $30.7 million…in one quarter! As mentioned earlier, the Mickey Drexler CNBC documentary was a phenomenal piece, inspiring corporate propaganda that any retailer would die to have aired!
Neiman Marcus enjoyed $1.06 billion revenues this year, up from $983 million last year. Apparently big ticket retail is alive and kicking! Needless Markup (oh come on, you know you use the nickname too) is going to focus on further developing CUSP, the 6 contemporary pop-up stores that they have had for 6 years. Personally I love CUSP, I really enjoy the edited version of Neiman’s that it offers, and I always have success jumping in to CUSP, whereas attempting the same quick visit at Neiman’s seems daunting based on pure volume.
The Olsen twins (no matter what they do as adults, are forever referred to as such) are the new creative directors of Superga sneakers. The Italian classics were purchased by Steve Madden and he then appointed The Row designers (LOVE LOVE LOVE The Row!!) the new Superga creative directors. Sadly all the dedicated CASHMERE styles to be sold on The Row’s website are completely sold out. Seccatura (bummer in Italian)!
