Allow me to wax on about a lovely little bakery in a little suburb in Wellesley, Massachusetts. It’s called SUSU and it is simply divine, with all of it’s cinnamon muffins, cupcake camps, cakes and cookies. Oh, and it’s couture & cashmere trunk shows. Insert “WHAT?” here.
Yup, SUSU is hosting a trunk show 11/18 & 11/19 highlighting some exquisite talent in the area of CashCash (click the blue if you aren’t familiar with cash cash…), and couturier level clothing, with two designers with MAJOR designer pedigree.
FJALL (Swedish for Mountain) is a cashmere line designed in Rhode Island, spun and created in Como, Italy (helllooooooo George Clooney!!). The Como mill, land and goats have been owned by one family, for generations. The designs include peplum waists, cableknit ponchos and cashmere sweatshirts (OH YEAH!!!!!!). FJALL creator, Lisa Kasabian, has also included her trade secret non-pilling process on each of these beauties…and yes, of course I tried to find out the specifics of the secret….no luck.
Lisa worked for Ralph Lauren in knitwear design, and one look at these creations and instant luxe recognition occurs!
ISOUDE is the creation of classically trained couturier Kate Brierley, formerly a designer with Ralph Rucci. (Click the blue to visit the website, complete with online shopping!)
Already written up in Vogue, WWD and Towne & Country (HELLO, THAT IS INCREDIBLE!!!), Kate is dedicated to creating pieces her clients can invest, collect and live in, “dressing up and being comfortable, with versatility with sophistication”.
Kate believes that clothes need to be beautiful, not mass produced. She believes that “the quality of a line by the inside of the garments”. ISOUDE represents the “European mentality of owning a few great pieces, and wearing them out!”
SUSU is not just another pretty, flour-sprayed baking goddess, she also has phenomenal fashion friends!
I am in love with the last two pieces!
Cinnamon muffins aka “fat pills” or french muffins. Yummie to both the fat pills and the cashmere.
Love those evil yummy things!
A bakery and fabulous fashion in one place? The pieces look divine!
And they serve champs. Ta-Daaaaaaa!

YES! 🙂
I like these finds and the last two pieces are superb.
I do see the Ralph Lauren influence in some of these pieces. Speaking of which I thought this may be of interest to you. Turns out Ralph Lauren has the best customer service over any other retailer for the month of October.
That is a huge accomplishment – retailers are nothing without solid csrs representing them. Thanks for the info!
You had me at ‘cashmere sweatshirts’ AND ‘non-pilling’—these two terms make these Italian pieces even more seductive!!!
LOL – easy sell right?!
