Happy Dance All Around, it’s Friday!
NYC was THE fashion hotspot this past week. FLOTUS opened the Anna Wintour Costume Center at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 5th. A ridiculously impressive list of attendees including Alber Elbez, Marc Jacobs, Andre Leon Talley, Ralph Lauren, Proenza Schouler, Donatella Versace, Alexander Wang were on hand to watch the most powerful bob in the fashion world open her namesake Costume Center.
The Met Ball was held on May 5th, 2014 and this year the annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute was “White tie & tails” to celebrate the work of Charles James – who’s work is coincidentally being profiled at the MET, and is divine!
reversecommuter’s favorite dresses included Donatella Versace, all the Stella McCartney pink girls and Victoria Beckham in her own stunning white design.
How much does a fundraiser filled with A-listers actually raise? Considering the 2014 Met Ball entrance was a modest (!!) $25,000 ticket, it is a safe bet that this will be a banner year for the Costume Institute’s coffers! Fair estimates of $12 Million are the buzz on the street.
Speaking of the gorgeous classic look of Victoria Beckham, the tally on her Met Ball outfit (which apparently was on the low side of the crowd) was a mere $2.5 MILLION – and keep in mind she designed her own dress, so one can assume a slight discount on the retail price of $4718, which you can purchase online in the fall.
In celebration of a fabulously glamourous week of MET life (lol), pour some champs and enjoy in a gown…while saluting your mother /and or yourself if you are a mother – loose interpretation allowed! 🙂
Happy Weekend!

Victoria Beckham is always so sleek and beautiful!
I couldn’t agree more. She has evolved into a fashion leader, in design and appearance. And her husband by her side is always THE dreamiest accessory! 😉
Amen to that statement!
I Iove VB’s minimalistic style; I am not sure about this dress though. It just doesn’t seem to be flattering to me…
Have to give Beckham some well deserved credit. She’s come a long way! She definitely figured out how to brand herself and create something that people enjoy, without being trashy tabloid fodder.
Beautiful dresses! Completely agree with the comments above, I love VB’s minimalistic yet ultra-chic style.
Agreed!
I just wish her price point was a little less frightening…
