Happy New Year! Brand new 2016 is a time to get organized.
Sunshine, Derby Juleps and the Weekend! Trifecta!
Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) has been printing fashion news daily since 1905. Until April 24, 2015 that is. WWD has now morphed into a weekly publication that launched Wednesday April 29th. To celebrate this HUGE publication, WWD Weekly dropped SIX different covers with some extremely fascinating fashion stars!
THE MOST beautiful picture of Alexander Wang gracing one cover,
The Olsen Twins (aka The Row) on another cover,
Proenza Schouler gorgeousness on another cover,
Scottish designer Christopher Kane,
Sacai’s Chitose Abe and
J.W. Anderson (with possibly THE best profile picture ever).
#WWDWeekly has caused quite the murmur amongst those in the fashion world who start each day with an expresso and a read of the daily. Fret not Fashion Pets, there is a new digital daily edition that will be emailed to existing subscribers, and now there is yet another reason to celebrate Hump Day as that is when the weekly will come out!
Lucky Magazine (*full disclosure – reversecommuter is a contributor) has announced that their social media maven of an editor, Eva Chen, has announced she will be leaving the magazine. There is also an unconfirmed rumor that the magazine will be going completely digital!
As a result of the editor and possibly editorial changes at Lucky Magazine, the upcoming May 7th Lucky FABB bloggers conference is postponed – bummer as reversecommuter had just booked a equally FAB hotel room at the W and was planning outfits…
File under Fun Fact: Did you know that John Paul DeJoria (handsome dark haired owner of Paul Mitchell hair products) is also the owner of Patron Tequila? His annual income of 2.8 BILLION is a testimony to an awe inspiring drive – he started Paul Mitchell with a $700 loan.
reversecommuter not only loves the smell of Paul Mitchell’s awapuhi shampoo (seriously, give it a whiff) but I am officially obsessed with the work ethic of this man – I have a new hero!
Enjoy the weekend – slip those perfectly pedicured piggies into something open toed and raise your silver julep cup to all the drop-dead hats and outfits at the Kentucky Derby!
Springtime Weekends – potential patio openings, tulips a plenty & gorgeous outfits come out from beneath big winter coats!
Coachella isn’t just about music, fashion is coming to the dessert in a BIG way! CFDA will be present for the first time, and reverse commuter favorite designer Jonathan Simkhai (also a member of the CFDA) will be playing int he dessert too. H&M, PopSugar and Trina Turk will also be at the festival.
Coachella, which started in 1999, has evolved into a fashion statement as much as a music festival, so it really does make perfect sense for the fashion world to start paying attention! Click here to see what a Coachella Mama wears!
Today is the first day to pre-order your Apple Watch. But it is backordered 4-6 weeks.
Good news is that the prices range from $349 to $10000, thus fitting every budget and with the backorder you have enough time to properly deliberate which style is right for you!
Net-a-porter and Chanel have teamed up for the very first time to launch Coco Crush, a collection of fine jewelry that will be available online at net-a-porter.com for a three week period. Click here to sign up for shopping, and mark your calendars for April 15th.
Speaking of Chanel – and what prettier, quiltier, chain-strapped topic is there? Chanel shoppers in China are very pleased with the price adjustments Chanel made on April 8th. Click here to read more about this from an earlier post.
A 20% price drop is WAY significant and it might just seem like Chanel is having a sale in Shanghai today!
Enjoy the weekend – go get a pedicure and wear those fabulous strappy shoes (that have been buried in the back of the closet all winter), while sipping champs on a patio!
Spring has Sprung, and so has the weekend!
reversecommuter’s jaw has hit the floor! Jeff Bezos’ Amazon has set it’s fashion goal WAY high with news this week that Amazon might be trying to buy net-a-porter. THAT IS RIGHT, amazon is trying to BUY net-a-porter.com!
The deal has Natalie Massenet’s website of fashion deliciousness valued at 2 BILLION euros.
Massenet chased her dream to be the ultimate online luxury fashion site starting in her apartment (the luscious net-a-porter packaging was stored in her London flat’s bathtub!), and twelve years later sold the company to luxury goods group Richemont for 390 MILLION euros in 2010.
If this deal goes through, Jeff Bezos will truly earn his title as visionary within the business world. First books, now luxury fashion, online all the time. Mr. Bezos, reversecommuter is a little bit in awe.
Planning on a little cooking this weekend? Why not take a recipe from the brand spanking new Bergdorf Goodman cookbook?
Berdorf’s released the cookbook this week and the food ideas are nearly as scrumptious as a visit to the second floor shoe boutique – trust me, it is THE closest thing to heaven!
The recipes include a ton of yummy cocktail ideas (WHOOP WHOOP!),
loads of salads – ladies who lunch on the 7th floor of Bergdorf’s LIVE for salads, salivate-worthy fish and meat entrees and desserts that include butterscotch brownies – I mean COME ON!!!!!!!!!
Needless to say, you can buy it on Amazon for a mere $25.
Put the boots in the back of the closet, slip into the strappy sandals and pop the champs – it’s Friday!!!!!!
