Sensational Simkhai at Saks!

Saks Fifth Avenue hosted the ridiculously fabulous Jonathan Simkhai for a day of style, swings and seriously decadent designer wear.

‚Äčreversecommuter has been consistent in my adoration and appreciation for the design and talent of Jonathan Simkhai

Seriously, take a tour through the past four years of this blog and count the numerous mentions of one of my absolute favorite designers!

Fun story about the white lace top I am wearing – Saks special ordered three of these for the event, and all three were snapped up before 2pm yesterday, in fact we were all trying them on at the same time, three dressing rooms in a row!

Yesterday’s Saks event was tremendous and proves that Jonathan Simkhai is a designer that knows what his clients desire.  Despite his crazy busy schedule, international clientele and mind-boggling success – he danced with Gigi & Kendal for Vogue for Pete’s Sake, he was absolutely in the moment in Boston.

Jonathan was literally running between jam packed dressing rooms yesterday, meeting and greeting his clients as well as offering customized one on one alterations and suggestions.  #fashionswoon!ūüíē

He suggested I try this dress on – so obviously I did!

Sadly it was too big but perhaps a revisit may occur if an appropriate event pops up on the calendar – I’m thinking of a gala in June…or maybe this white lace and cotton full length dress which I absolutely covet (despite my goofy face in this pic!).

The clothes are decadent, feminine and yet strong at the same time.  Fancy lace detail paired with chambray denim or cotton that allows the client to interpret the way she wants to wear the piece – flip flops, sandals or Stillettos, casual patio lunch or dreamy date night.  This is the attribute that makes Jonathan Simkhai a favorite designer.  This red dress will be a perfect summer piece and I can pair it with gold flat sandals or a heel.  Dressed up or down, a Simkhai piece makes you walk just that little bit taller & happier!

The more I learn about the man Jonathan Simkhai and his incredibly talented, crazy intelligent team the more I own the validity of my four year & counting style crush.ūüíē

Trapped at home with a sick little one?  Soothing a sad sniffling sweet pea?  No worries, you can still look killer while enjoying cabin fever!

Old school Adidas striped track pants are EVERYWHERE for Spring 2016.  Grab them now and strut strut strut.

Add a Zara denim shirt  on top

and¬†a cute knit hat from The Third Piece and boom – Dr. Mommy is rocking it fierce in the ‘burbs.

A t-shirt from T by Alexander Wang¬†in papaya will add instant luxe and sunshine to any grey winter day. ¬†The Outnet almost always has a smattering to offer, so why not save a little…and then buy more.

MOTHER denim’s The Dropout¬†Fray (worn with bare feet) will make you believe it’s summer, simply add a light cashmere sweater and a smile!

Pajamas just for bed is so yesterday, or at least last night! ¬†Piamita’s silk cherry pajama top is the epitome of the cherry on top!

Just don’t let anyone wipe a runny nose on a dry clean only!

Furry Festivities

What is cuter than a furry accent?

The quickest fancy fix for any outfit, especially during the Holiday Season! How about a furry sleeved sweater at a ridiculously appealing $49 from Nastygal?

Faux or Fur, whichever makes you happy!

Add a furry keychain to your bag for a little surprise. Fendi is the master of the furry monster key chains at $850!

Gucci fur lined mules will make any outfit EXPLODE into a different stratosphere of style!

Or maybe the mink pompom lace up sandals from Gucci (or be really greedy and get both!)

Pair an animal print faux fur jacket ($94 at Neiman Marcus Last Call) with a simple white t-shirt, add leather jeans and stilettos and prepare for an onslaught of mistletoers!

In The Navy

Spring is weird.

One minute it is sunny and warmish, the next minute the sky is bleakly grey and the wind is  cruel.  How exactly does one dress successfully for that insanity?!

Answer: the navy blue blazer.  Classic and ridiculously versatile!

T-shirt, jeans and slip on jeans, culottes and stillettos, cigarette pants and kitten heels + navy blazer = perfect Spring outfit options!

Price points are just as varied, from¬†$3190 for Saint Laurent’s wool gaberdine gorgeousness¬†to a sweet $138 deal at J Crew.

reversecommuter invested in a Ralph Lauren Collection blazer a few years ago and it was worth every single penny!  A classic fine tailored piece will last for almost ever, and every single time it is worn it makes me smile.

T1042B Peaked Lapel Blazer

Smythe (a Canandian jacket designer) offers up a multitude of styles and interpretations of the navy blazer every single season.  LOVE!

¬†Theory has a clever take on the classic this Spring. ¬†Rag &¬†Bone’s genius blazer design stuns and introduces fun elements such as piping and gorgeous big buttons.

The navy blazer is the ultimate unknown element piece that makes for the perfect airplane item, warm enough for the inevitable airplane air conditioning arctic blast (WHY do they do that?!?!?) and yet is warm enough to not melt you en route to your oceanfront hotel!

Obviously Veronica Beard’s dickey blazer would be THE ultimate piece for this journey – just zip off the dickey before the plane lands!
