Plane Jane

What do you wear to travel?  Airlines have exorcised the glamor right out of plane travel.

The onus is on each and everyone of us is to be prepared for any potential temperature, seating arrangement or delay.

Full Disclosure I am sitting on the tarmac delayed while I write this…

Slides are the first absolute must every air traveler should own.

Easy on and off when going through security and stylishly cute enough to keep you happy even when your feet are swelling.  Don’t try to deny it, it happens to all of us!

Next up is a good blazer.  Flying from one climate to another can be challenging, and there is not always a need to bring a big bulky jacket.  A blazer can be layered,  hoodies are HOT right now, so why not invest in a Vestments piece to go with the blazer?

Once you land somewhere warm, the blazer goes perfectly with a tank or t-shirt.

Next on the list, a carry on suitcase.  Seriously.  Yes, just one bag.

Never again will your eyes well up with tears as the luggage belt circles around & around, empty without your bag.  Don’t check it, bring it on the plane with you.  If the editors of British Vogue can do it during fashion weeks, then so too can we!  Rimowa offers colorful, hard case carrying suitcases that allow a lot inside.

Finally, an  exaggerated sized cashmere scarf.  Planes get cold and passengers get sleepy.  Why not pack something like Alexander McQueen’s scarf, that will make you feel like a princess despite the stranger snoring loudly right beside you?  It will also double nicely as a wrap in the evening wherever you are traveling to.

Now if you will excuse me, I have to run to my connecting gate!

Spec-ulating

Holding the phone a little too far away from your face?  Tired of contact lens early morning eye pokes?

How about updating your look with a new pair of designer glasses?

Tom Ford is my current obsession.

Totally asking Santa for Cèline’s tortoise shell round frames…oh yes, THE list is already being prepped!

Earlier this year in Italy I came across Micromega, “the most exclusive eyewear in the world”.

The designs are extraordinarily unique, and their prices are clearly living up to the description!   The first picture shows a pair for 1070 euros, and the ones below are a cool 840 euros.   A visit to the website is highly recommended, the creations are so incredibly artistic!
A new pair of designer specs is a faster fix on your total look that a great fitting pair of jeans (yup, going there in an upcoming post…)

Sleeveless Wonder!

Fall is one crazy season!

Jacket, no jacket, layers, stripping off the layers, OY!

Invest in a sleeveless vest.

Put a tank top underneath.  Pair it with a long sleeved t-shirt.  Add a thin cashmere layer. A tailored shirt works too.
Jeans, leggings, even a tailored knee length skirt works with this piece.  Add a pair of statement boots and vamanos mamacita!

Budget friendly options available if your name isn’t Amal Clooney or Gwyneth Paltrow.  Current faves include Trouvè at Nordstroms for $78 and  ASOS for $72.

Who Needs Sleeves?!?!

Gladiator Sandals

WWSW?

What Would Spartacus Wear?  It is THE shoe question to pose for the coming Spring season.  Perhaps Alexander McQueen‘s patent leather S&M inspired glads?

Gladiator Sandals are stomping back into our closets louder than a tour bus crowd entering the Colosseum.  Lead the pack in Gianvito Rossi’s suede low wrap sandals?

There is a dizzying array of styles and designers offering up the loveliest lace ups, reversecommuter is having trouble making a decision (quelle surprise!).  Valentino’s delicate laced up version is so gorgeous that for this shoe I would wrangle a lion or two.

Chloe’s gladiator offerings come in a flat or heeled version, both in a beyond-buttery suede just begging to be caressed…or worn.

Any shoe trend that allows my feet to be comfortable, run around after the banditos AND deliver  a look that makes my husband raise an approving eyebrow is ALL GOOD, even with the extra 5 minutes it will involve to lace these beauties up!

White Stuff

Here we snow again… while I run around groc shopping and filing my home with exotic fresh flowers (my answer to yet another snow storm)…

1 Great White Shirt, 2 Loose Lemons

‘If you were to ask me what I wish I had invented in fashion, it would be the white shirt. To me, a shirt is the basis for everything. Everything else comes afterwards.’
Karl Lagerfeld

Nothing says Spring has Sprung like wearing a white shirt.

lemon5

It is one of the most basic yet versatile fashion staples in any closet.

lemon8

The white shirt is like cupcakes – they are NEVER going to go out of style!

My juggling skills are not building block material, but it does entertain everyone while waiting for dinner to be ready!  🙂
