Runway Strut with Purpose!

reversecommuter is walking the runway…in bare feet and carrying jerry cans!

W Hotels/charity: water Luncheon at W New York - Times Square

Clearly this is not for Fashion Week – but it should be!  Wednesday August 21st at the W Boston is hosting “Walk with Purpose” to raise money for charity:water, a non-profit that provides drinking water to developing nations with 100% public donations.

W Hotels/charity: water Luncheon at W New York - Times Square

I read an article in the New York Times a few weeks ago that really peaked my curiosity.  It was about Scott Harrison, founder of charity:water, taking a bunch of actors, activist and techie ka-zillion-aires to Ethiopia on a water mission.  Click here to read the NY Times article that started my new obsession.  Scott was a nightclub promoter in NYC in an earlier life and can probably make water sexier than Evian!  Who else could hire an old plane and fill it up with the likes of Matt Mullenweg (hello co-founder of WordPress), Nathan Hubbard (ceo of Ticketmaster), Tony Hawk & Sophia Bush and set off to Ethiopia?  Imagine my surprise when I was invited to W Boston’s WaterWalk?!?!

The W Global  Music Director, Michaelangelo L’Acqua will be spinning the WaterWalk – so you just know that SoundHound and Shazam apps will be VERY busy that night.  Dare to dream there will be a playlist provided!

He has had Jessica Biel, Sophia Bush, Jessica Alba, Seth Myers, and other Hollywooders strut their stuff on the Waterwalk, and now it is reversecommuter’s turn….

If you are near Boston and want to come support this phenomenal event, please rsvp to W Boston.

Fashion & Finance Friday!

Hot & Sunny & Summer & Friday = Happy Dance!

902.  That is my new good luck number, as it is the number of pages in the September issue of Vogue!  My fave is British Vogue but as I subscribe to that in electronic format, and I fell asleep before the download was complete last night (took forever) I have yet to learn it’s page total.

Speaking of digital British publications (brilliant seque, non?), both Conde Nast U.K. and Hearst Magazines U.K. announced an increase in digital subscriptions, which leads the publishing executives to believe that magazine readers (especially fashion magazines) enjoy both formats – VERY exciting news for landfills and trees!

Cool Globes Boston

Estee Lauder hit $10 BILLION in 2013 – quite the impressive mark!  With an impressive stable of pretty face makers such as Bobbi Brown, Estee Lauder, Clinique, Aerin, Smashbox, La Mer, Tom Ford (you know how I adore all things TOM), and M-A-C, it is easy to see how such a figure is attainable.  After all, no matter what the budget is, a lipstick is always the perfect pick me up!  (Please forgive the big scary BUDGET word!!!!)

Personally I am grabbing the ballerina pink from net-a-porter.  LOVE!

Wrinkle in Time

Linen season is officially open (although reversecommuter would argue there are NO rules in fashion…)

I have loved linen since I was a little girl & my grandmother taught me that the phrase to describe this fabulous material is “wrinkle of wealth”  (click here for that post)

Linen allows for ease – it will get wrinkled, it will breathe and flow, and it will still look fantastic!pants3Even when in full blown CRAZY mode doing 56 errands, entertaining & refereeing the children, cooking, driving all over the planet to 12 simultaneous sporting events and attempting to keep it all together!

Un COUP de Couer

(that means falling instantly in love!) and that is what has happened to reversecommuter…

with the brand new issue of COUP, a magazine launched by Alexandra Hall – an editor with an illustrious pedigree including Daily Candy, Boston Magazine and Fashion Boston.

(reversecommuter has had the pleasure of dealing with Alex Hall in the professional fashion world and can attest to phenom talent!)

COUP is an online lifestyle company that offers an online magazine (can you hear the trees cheering?) that is planning on building an interactive publishing platform that will include a video channel, and online shopping (can you hear reversecommuter cheering?).

The Fall 2012 Issue launches TODAY!!!!  Click here to enjoy it, hot off the press!  This issue promises to deliver Fall fashion, food, design, gossip and travel in a hot and hip style not seen in the Boston scene ‘eva’!

COUP’s Fall Fashion issue comes off a little cheesy, in a GOOD WAY!  There is a delicious spread (sorry, I had to introduce one double entendre!!) on cheese, a Vermont cheese festival and some suggested buys from a fromagerier of wondrous reputation.  YUMMM!

The Fall Fashion spread is beyond!!!!!  Deep, dark, sexy pictures exhibiting the feminine designs and detail that make Fall 2012 dangerously exciting!  Leather, lace, sequins, shorts, heavy dramatic smokey eyes, high demand booties and platforms that elongate the legs (uh, yes pahleeze!!).
