Winter White Out

If you can’t beat ’em, turn it into a fashion statement!

IMG_7454

Winter 2015 will go down in the record books.  Snow Snow and more Snow!

IMG_7457

Getting sick of wearing dark blacks & greys?  Why not embrace the white stuff?

IMG_7455

Mix up the wardrobe and sport Winter White.  Who knows, it might work as reverse psychology and brighten things up!  Just be sure to add one colorful element – if nothing else, they will be able to find you in the snow!!

Fashion & Finance Friday!

Friday of a loooong weekend – Everybody Dance!

John Galliano has landed.  Maison Martin Margiela has signed Dior’s former designer was handpicked by Renzo Rosso (controversial billionaire owner of Diesel, Maison Martin Margiela, Marni and Viktor & Rolf) as MMM’s creative director.

images-1

Let’s hope they celebrate with sparkling water as alcohol produces anti-Semitic rants a la Galliano.  shame.

Choupette you little minx!

Stretching all her furry fabulousness all over the OPEL car, posing for her calendar spread while being shot by none other than King Karl! purrrrrrrrrrrrr  (that one is for you Cowboys&Crossbones).

FLOTUS knows Fashion – or atleast holds one heck of a designer laden luncheon.

2014-10-08T182334Z_01_WAS403_RTRIDSP_3_USA-POLITICS

Michelle Obama hosted the White House’s first Fashion education workshop, that she thought up with Anna Wintour last year while re-opening the Costume Institute.  Providing hands on workshops for fashion students while mingling with designers such as Prabal Gurung, Zac Posen, Bibhu Mohapatra and Naeem Khan, and Lucky Editor Eva Chen.  FLOTUS was on trend with her beach waves hair and a navy sleeveless racerback dress that was designed by one of the FIT students – how cool is that?!?!  Only question reversecommuter has is where was Ralph Lauren and Anna Wintour?!?

Slap on your favorite Louboutins, pour the champs and toast the weekend!

O.W.O. An Ode to Raf

One Weekend Outfit (O.W.O.) this week is reversecommuter’s personal shootout to Raf Simmons and his deliriously exquisite presentation of Dior’s Spring 2015 Collection during Paris Fashion Week.

DIO_0619

Namely the inclusion of the classic black Bermuda short.

photo 1

Go buy a pair now.  Wear them with long coats, blazers, vests, sleeveless jackets, etc.  This is an example of a classic piece that should be in your wardrobe.

DIO_0902

Just please do yourself a fashion favor and purchase the Bermuda shorts.  Knee socks not mandatory.

O.W.O.

O.W.O. (one weekend outfit) is all about summer black…

IMG_2333

Sounds like an oxymoron but it isn’t.  Just keep the fabrics light, such as the silk in the Jonathan Simkhai slit godet top.  AMAZING staple in the wardrobe fyi.

IMG_2329

This top has such great swing, kind of a great choice for date night!  But I think I will refrain from the goofy facial expressions…

IMG_2330So…my husband may or may not be over the paparazzi!

Fashion & Finance Friday!

Friday, you freakin’ rock!

Tom Ford is launching fancy schmancy sneakers for Fall 2014 – sign me up!  Sending a message that the current sporting line obsession of the fashion industry is still going strong.  Prices range from $690 to $990, for sneaks that have been hand made in Italian workshops, where the leather is hand polished for three days for the deep patina.  If cost is a concern for these norm core creations, go for the velvet low tops with the modest $690 price tag.

reversecommuter LOVES all things Tom Ford (click here to revisit the love), and wonders when the women’s sneaks will be unveiled…and for how much.

DIOR Secret Garden Part 3 has returned to the intoxicatingly beautiful Palais de Versailles.  I love these videos, shot by wonder duo Inez and Vinoodh.

Unknown

The bags, the dresses, the shoes, Depeche Mode still singing and OBVIOUSLY the palace and grounds – c’est règal pour les jeux!  reversecommuter is loving the tease Dior has put up on Instagram:

If possible drink pink bubbles while wearing pink at some point this weekend – it’s good to have goals!

J’Adore Dior Too!

Just like Charlize, J’adore Dior…

Dior SHOES that is!  Click here to view the collection.

Dior1 Comfort, style and sexy heels too – what more can a girl want?!?!

Clearly multiple pairs is the answer!  🙂

Soccer Mom Sass

Suburban mommy life can be…monochromatic at times.

or

POP a little color into the outfit for an unexpected splash of happiness to add to soccer practice, baseball games, swim meets, car pooling etc etc etc…Make it a good purchase, use it and love it for a few years – case in point, Ralph Lauren espadrilles.

Orange2

And if orange shoes aren’t your thing, absolutely invest in a tube of Dior’s Addict Fluid Stick  – easiest, sexiest, vampiest, most brilliant color addition to your wardrobe!

Orange1

Confession Time –  reversecommuter returned to the Dior makeup counter 2 days after I bought my Dior Addict Fluid Stick, to get the lovely salesperson to explain how to open the lipstick part…DUH!!! The lipstick is just a decoration!!!

Hats, Dresses, Champs!

Combining fashion with a great cause is always Haute Couture!

PIP1reversecommuter was a busy girl yesterday attending two phenomenal events in Boston, for two incredible causes.

DC1 PIP aka Party in the Park, is an annual fundraising luncheon for the Emerald Conservancy.

PIP3

PIP attendees wear a hat (yay!!) and support the beautiful parks of Boston, created by Frederick Law Olmstead (the same landscape architect who was responsible for Central Park in NYC).

PIP4

The evening brought another event, Dress with a Cause.  A fashion show and fundraiser for St. Jude Hospital.

DC3

In it’s fifth year, this event brings out an intimate, generous auction competitive crowd that raised an impressive amount of money that goes directly to one of the most important cancer research hospitals for children.

DC2

Fashions were provided by Sara Campbell and Kenzie Kids, and the show was filled with adorable designs, uber cute models and fun floaty big balloons!

France, Furniture & Fashion…Oh My!

reversecommuter has a really good friend who has a really good knack at fun giftees…case and point the FNF big green book:

RB1

Thanks to Roche Bobois (reversecommuter’s absolute fave French furniture – remember the blogger chair obsession?) I can add another designer to the FNF big green book – Samuel Vartan.

RB3

A fashion event with bubbles, fab French furniture, gorgeous people, red carpets & a step and repeat, all in the ‘burbs?!?  Mais oui, s’il vous plait!

RBb

Armenian born, French Canadian raised, Boston based Vartan’s designs are predominantly body hugging jersey dresses, but his suiting is stunning!  There was a soft grey long blazer & cigarette pants, a royal blue sport jacket and pants, and a white suit that would have all been very happy in my wardrobe!

RBc

Merci Beaucoup Roche Bobois!

Inspiring NOT Stealing.

When I go get these done…

nails

It’s Essie Tour de Finance.

Anywho, when I find myself stuck at the spa I notice that I actually take the time to see the details in a magazine.  Which leads me to adding to this little pile of ripped bits of inspiration.  Kinda like a hardcopy Pinterest board.

nails1

It isn’t stealing if it inspires me right?

ps I find that a decent fake cough almost completely covers up the ripping noise.  Just saying.
