Hats, Dresses, Champs!

Combining fashion with a great cause is always Haute Couture!

PIP1reversecommuter was a busy girl yesterday attending two phenomenal events in Boston, for two incredible causes.

DC1 PIP aka Party in the Park, is an annual fundraising luncheon for the Emerald Conservancy.

PIP3

PIP attendees wear a hat (yay!!) and support the beautiful parks of Boston, created by Frederick Law Olmstead (the same landscape architect who was responsible for Central Park in NYC).

PIP4

The evening brought another event, Dress with a Cause.  A fashion show and fundraiser for St. Jude Hospital.

DC3

In it’s fifth year, this event brings out an intimate, generous auction competitive crowd that raised an impressive amount of money that goes directly to one of the most important cancer research hospitals for children.

DC2

Fashions were provided by Sara Campbell and Kenzie Kids, and the show was filled with adorable designs, uber cute models and fun floaty big balloons!

Fashion & Finance Friday!

Happy Happy Happy Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not only are the holidays upon us, so is earnings season!  JC Penney delivered some extremely disappointing (yet unsurprising) numbers.    But investors love a good comeback kid situation, so the honest reporting by the company (numbers are down because of a massive clean up operation from Ron Johnson’s merchandise selections while CEO) resulted in a spike in the stock price of over 9%.  reversecommuter’s guess is that JC Penney will return to what the retailer built itself on, a solid lower price department store.

T J Maxx is on a serious upswing and delivered some WOWZER numbers – apparently digging for designer bargains is a very popular pastime…shocker!

Got a spare $700?  There is nowhere better to spend it than at the Four Seasons Hotel Georges V on December 2nd.  UNICEF, for the 11th year, has invited designers such as Chanel, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Louis Vuitton and many more, to create a doll.  The dolls are displayed at the Petit Palais and then auctioned off at the Hotel Georges V.  This year the campaign is directed towards the children of Darfur.  How can these dolls not be on every fashionista’s list?!?!

1.7 MILLION euros have been raised in the first 10 years, all going to vaccines for 300,000 children.   reversecommuter adores this campaign, as this is what Christmas should be about.

HAPPY HAPPY!

It is a New Year! 2013 is expected to be spectacular in all it delivers! (that is my prediction anyway)

reversecommuter had a little holiday – took a trip up to Canada to visit family and some friends. Packing this time of year can pose a bit of a challenge – snow stuff, day stuff, workout stuff, party stuff, comfy hanging around stuff = MAJORLY stuffed suitcase!

Rang in the New Year at Cafe Boulud at the new Four Seasons in Toronto. I have been lucky enough to hit the Cafe Boulud in Palm Beach (FAB), Daniel in NYC (delish on a fantasy basis) and now this newbie which definitely delivers on the Daniel Boulud level of phenomenal!!!!!!! (click the blue to learn more on the Boulud collection of restaurants & the chef himself).

Nothing like big fun balloons to get the party started!
