Sunshine & Scales

Animal prints, a basic addition to any wardrobe.  Why not bring out the animal instinct with the Sunshine?

Snake print in a blue hue from Equipment.

Paired up with a pair of Gap shorts (not every piece needs to break the bank!) and a pair of patent Lanvin ballet flats.

Now go cheer on that baseball /  soccer / lacrosse game Super Mom‚Ķbut don’t forget the SPF – only the clothes are snake like, not your skin!

O.W.O. – bargoon style!

O.W.O. this week is all about easy summer outfits at a ridiculously budget friendly level.

Linen tees from J Crew are a summer staple for reversecommuter – keep their shape and breathe!

Totally stole this hat from my four year old’s closet (Baby Gap, not just regular Gap!).

The basket is reversecommuter’s fave summer IT bag. $20 at L’Occitane!

Cropped WHAT?!?

crop1

Memo to designers – Not all women’s stomachs are created equal.

crop3

Some are in their early twenties and have washboard six packs. Others are a teeny bit older and have had some babies, and are now the proud owners of tummy-Shar-Peis.

crop8

Hence the Spring fashion conundrum concerning crop tops & the need for Fashion Translation!

crop2

There are some wondrous collections out this spring, most of which are offering crop tops. What’s the owner of a muffin top to do?

crop10

Option One Рthe layered look.  This is a great option for Spring (and almost Spring), as layering is key to survival when it is freezing in the morning then scorching in the afternoon.

crop7

Wear a longer tee short or blouse underneath the crop. But don’t tuck!

Option Two – ¬†Tune in tomorrow…… ¬†ūüôā

Finance & Fashion Friday!

Bonjiorno Venedi!

Giorgio Armani announced a 45% increase in annual sales for 2011. ¬†Not only is that an amazing increase for a year’s sales, it is also quite impressive that Giorgio felt like sharing that information…it is a privately held company so he could have kept that fabulous news all to himself. ¬†(I would choose to brag about the good news too, especially right about now in Italy!)

China (again)…Ralph Lauren Corporation¬†(stock symbol RL) has announced there will be 60 stores opening in the next three years. ¬†Sixty! ¬†Personally I am rethinking the potential payback of the Rosetta Stone Mandarin cds I just bought….

Speaking of the Lifshitz Family, (I just love the Lauren’s real surname!!!), Ralph’s gorgeous wife, Ricky Lauren, just released quite the delicious coffee table book, “The Hamptons: Family, Food and History”¬†and launched the book at a soiree held at the Ralph Lauren Manhattan flagship store. ¬†Cannot wait to get my mitts on a copy of that luscious read, just in time for summer!

The reverse commuter is tired today, stayed up too late watching an awesome CNBC ¬†biography on Mickey Drexler, former CEO of The Gap, current CEO of J. Crew. ¬† AMAZING WATCH!!!!!!! ¬†He owns 7 homes (most oceanfront mansions) but started off in a ¬†one room walk-up and very humble beginnings. ¬†Still meets with the “borough boys” – men that he grew up with and know him better than anyone else (except his college sweetheart wife). ¬†Mickey is inspirational on the professional and personal fronts, refreshing! ¬†Plus he loves the color yellow – thinks it is an attention grabber (happens to be my youngest’s fave color).

Mickey is sending J. Crew over to China too….just saying (ŤĮī in Mandarin).

Finance & Fashion Friday – on Saturday!

OOOOPS! ¬†These long weekends can really confuse a girl! ¬†I totally overlooked that yesterday was Friday, which is normally Finance & Fashion Fridays on reverse commuter.com. ¬† So, let’s pretend it doesn’t matter just for today!

Glenn Murphy, CEO of Gap Inc. clocked in a modest $9.7 million compensation in 2011, a 63.3% jump from 2010 – that is what I call a STELLAR YEAR OF JEANS & T-SHIRT SALES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GO J. Crew GO….the photography and bookings director of Harper’s Bazaar (love that mag) just jumped ship over to J. Crew as V.P. of Brand Design. ¬†The building momentum of J. Crew makes me think this company is preparing to launch big things. ¬†Bigger than their current coo of manufacturing their cashmere sweaters at the same plant as Loro Piana in Italy – which, by the by, is HUGE considering the cost of a J.Crew cashmere sweater is a fraction of a fraction of the cost of Loro cash-cash,¬†(and let’s face it – it all comes from the same type of goat!!).

Tommy Hilfiger is inspiring!!!!!! ¬†He started his business in High School, chipping in $150 with a friend of his to buy 20 pairs of bell-bottom jeans and selling them to schoolmates. ¬†Last year Tommy Hilfiger Inc. had $5.6 BILLION in sales, world wide. ¬†Obviously his line has expanded. ¬†ūüôā

I love this quote of Tommy’s, in fact I have it on my desk –

“… fashion is fleeting and style is forever”

Cinderella Cinderella

So I woke up at midnight, as soon as it was officially March 15, like any fashion obsessed person would do, to get online to gap.com to get some of the DVF Kids Collection for my daughter.

As has been already recognized, February 26 WWDP?, I love me some DVF!  Naturally I wanted to get a sampling of the stuff for the kiddos!

I managed to get four pieces, but most of the collection was already sold out!  Bananas!!!!!

I cannot wait to get the delivery and see if the same amazing, vibrant colors, patterns and quality are present.
