Totally asking Santa for Cèline’s tortoise shell round frames…oh yes, THE list is already being prepped!

Earlier this year in Italy I came across Micromega, “the most exclusive eyewear in the world”.

The designs are extraordinarily unique, and their prices are clearly living up to the description!   The first picture shows a pair for 1070 euros, and the ones below are a cool 840 euros.   A visit to the website is highly recommended, the creations are so incredibly artistic!
A new pair of designer specs is a faster fix on your total look that a great fitting pair of jeans (yup, going there in an upcoming post…)

Farmer’s Daughter’s Gingham

Clichè but true, gingham has long been the farmer’s daughter’s choice.  On an aside, I do not recommend google searching the term “farmer’s daughter” – the results are less than wholesome!

It is also an instant sunshine piece, and who doesn’t want some of that?

DVF has an entire Spring 2015 collection dedicated to gingham.  Pants, blouses, tops, dresses and bags!

Michael Kor’s gingham cotton midi skirt is such a romantic interpretation of girlie sweet!

Chloe’s cotton jacket will add instant sunshine to a rainy day, and the frayed edges add  a cool edgy vibe.

Fashion & Fitness Friday!

Happy Dance Friday!!!!!!!!!!

Tom Ford is frowning.  Or at least he could if he wants to.  The newly married daddy has decided to stop getting Botox and fillers and just age naturally, and he is blaming it on his son and the lack of time in his schedule now that he is a dad.  Yet another reason reverse commuter LOVES Tom Ford!!!  (see reversecommuter’s original Top 10 here)

Tom received the lifetime award at the CFDA awards on June 2nd.  And as everyone knows, Rihanna showed up in a completely transparent dress.

Diane Von Furstenberg - Runway - Spring 2013 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

Diane von Furstenberg really loves Google Glass.  She first unveiled the über-cool optics on her runway during the DVF Spring 2013 show.

DVF Made for Glass collection will launch on June 23 on Natalie Massenet’s net-a-porter.com and Porter.com for the men’s collection.  The goal is to deliver wearable tech to the fashion and technology advanced clientele.  Wearable tech is an area that industrial and fashion companies are extremely focused on, and Google Glass is truly the groundbreaker.

Glasses will be $1725 and sunglasses will be $1620, and please note that this is a limited collection!

bikinis and champs is the order for the weekend – enjoy!!!!!!

Fashion & Finance Friday!

Holy Mother of all things LONG Week Related!  Hello Friday!

Google hearts Diane!  Yup, the love affair continues.  First the grand lady the wrap donned the funky GoogleGlass for her Spring 2013 runway show (click the blue for a refresher) and last night Diane chatted live for 40 minutes on #shopthehangout.google.com/+dvf…and it was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!

reversecommuter was beyond deliriously happy listening to Diane describe the essence of her designs and what she wants for her clients:

“I don’t want the dress to be remembered, I want the woman to be remembered”

“Buy things that will remain your friends for a long time”

“Be the woman you want to be.  The more you imagine it, the more it will happen” – this advice interestingly enough she gives to her two teenage granddaughters!

“I design simple clothes with details from old fashioned dress making – moulding the body to make it look effortlessly sexy”.

In addition to watching her chat live with Eva Chen, (editor of Lucky Magazine) and Michelle Phan (of youtube makeup fame), Google+ set up coordinating shopping windows so you could buy the looks as they were presented on your screen – UBER COOL CONCEPT!!!!

Marc Jacobs has left Louis Vuitton.  Some are saddened by the news, but reversecommuter thinks this is EXTREMELY exciting for the boy wonder of American fashion.  Marc Jacobs is gearing up to go public (probably inspired by Michael Kors KAZILLION DOLLAR successes).

PSME

In the words of Proenza Schouler (click here for more Proenza Schouler & reversecommuter), “…at the end of the day Tom Ford and Nicolas Ghesquiere (two of our idols) were just employees and they got fired.”  OUCH!  Better perhaps to be independent fashion designers, and “rock the independent vibe for sure!”

Those boys are prolific!

Happy Weekend – go pop some bubbles and in your highest heels “rock the independent vibe for sure!”

Fashion & Finance Friday!

Hot tamales, it’s FINALLY Friday!!!!!!

Isabel Marant (la belle fille of all gorgeous boho-chicness) has announced a new capsule collection with H&M.  If you put your ear to the ground you can hear the line-ups forming already!

Resort Collections are being unveiled right now – apparently a majority of the designers presenting are in DIRE need of a vacation themselves – and their drab & dreary fashions are proof!  Marc Jacobs thinks browns, deep reds and tweed is all a gal needs to pack for a winter escape to the sun.

marc-jacobs-resort-2014-collection-glamour-boys-inc-03

Balenciaga managed to put a smile on my face and make me start dreaming of where to wear 2014 Resort Wear (amazing when you consider Alexander Wang’s Resort Collection was meh at best).

Unknown-5

Burberry also nailed it – DELICIOUSNESS ABOUNDED throughout the entire Resort Collection.

Unknown-4

Speaking of Burberry, are you ready to pucker up and send kisses care of Burberry & Google?  Google’s helping Burberry break internet sales & advertising barriers, in a REALLY cool way!  Burberry’s ad campaign is dubbed “Art, Copy & Code”, and the Burberry Kiss is the initial offering.  Click here to set up your smoocher to be “mailed” to your sweetie.  You kiss the screen, enter your info, enter who the smooch is going to, and then you get to watch a fantastic world map swirl around during the delivery.  It is such a fun little exercise – perfect for a Friday!

Happy Smooch-filled, fantastically fashionable weekend!!!!

Fashion & Finance Friday!

NYFW (New York Fashion Week) the average cost of a fashion show is a ballpark $750,000.00.  NYFW also generates $865 MILLION ANNUALLY!!!!  WOWZER!

Google Glass was THE accessory at the Diane von Furstenberg Spring 2013 show. Sergey Brin, a Google co-founder and Diane hung out together backstage, pre-show to record, text and take pictures all through the one lensed wonder. Google is planning to launch then next year for approximately $1500.00.

Wonder if the models got to keep theirs?

Google released a short film, “DVF Through the Glass” to deliver what was captured at NYFW – COOL COOL F’ING COOL!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh Diane, has the reversecommuter mentioned lately that you are DIVINE!!!!

Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend…chill, hug the ones you love and recover from NYFW!

Fashion & Finance Friday!

happy happy joy joy it’s Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Need a new tablet?  Can you wait until July (as today is June 29th the odds must be good!), because that is when Google will launch the Nexus 7 for a paltry $199.00, and most of your fave mags will be a staggeringly cheap .99 to celebrate the newest 7″ electronic reader!

Natalie Massenet, founder and CEO of Net-a-porter (reversecommuter’s love for this site is near legendary in status) has opened a US headquarter in NYC.  Natalie suggested that the 73% annual growth in US business may have influenced the decision.   YA THINK?!?!?!?!

Interestingly approximately 25% of all Net-a-porter sales occur on either a tablet or a smartphone.  V V COOL STAT!

Lady Gaga paid $133,075 for an Alexander McQueen dress from 2008, owned by  Daphne Guinness who parted with some of her wardrobe sold by Christie’s on Wednesday June 27th.  The money raised will go to the Isabella Blow Foundation, which aids young designers and also funds research into depression and mental illness.  Isabella Blow was a fashion editor, a MAJOR fashion personality in her own right, and BFF to the captivating Daphne Guinness, and sadly she committed suicide in 2007.  No-one wore a hat better, in the humble opinion of reversecommuter.
