TransAtlantic Girl Crush

reversecommuter has a notsosecret girl crush on Victoria Beckham.

Her clean lined minimalistic clothing line is drool and dream worthy.  This little navy number is SO my new obsession!

The aesthetics cross over seamlessly into her luxe leather goods line.

Now VB has delivered again in her collaboration with NAILS INC., launching two colors Judo Red and Bamboo White.

reversecommuter wrote about this limited collection just before Christmas, so imagine my delight when the big man in the red suit slipped a couple of each color into my stocking!

The polish is phenomenal – not as rough on hands as gel but just as glossy and quite durable.  These are important virtues when considering daily life of the suburbanly challenged – cooking, cleaning, washing little hands and faces, walking dogs in the freezing cold tundra-like winter, running errands and basically doing all things that pretty much guarantee death to a manicure!

O.W.O. Knit Wit

One Weekend Outfit, grey sky and chilly.

Knit pants are everywhere, think Fall 2014 Marc Jacobs, Chanel, and more!

Now think Joe Fresh at 49.00, suddenly everything seems a little sunnier!

Put a Lid on It!

reversecommuter loves the sun but cannot reverse sun damage (clever phrase huh?!)

so it is time for my annual search for THE PERFECT HAT…here are a couple of top contenders:

J Crew $34.50

Gucci $435

Etro $136.50

Space Cowboy * currently on the cover of the RIDICULOUSLY good PORTER MAGAZINE

Fashion & Finance Friday!

Hot Diggity it’s Friday in the Summer!

Vince is the next designer that is thinking of becoming a publicly traded company, and the plans to expand Vince’s retail presence is proof.  NYC is now home to a flagship Vince store that is over 3000 square feet – that is a lot of Vince!

GREAT NEWS!   H&M has decided to re-enlist David Beckham to sell their undies with a new Fall campaign.  Here is a sneak peek at what every 38 year old man’s abs should/could look like.

Joe Fresh is launching Joe Fresh Kids in all 700 J C Penny stores, and the kick off was putting up an orange grove in Times Square.  It was very orange, and executives at beleaguered J C Penny have their fingers crossed that lots of people will buy Joe Fresh Kids – not only to increase the charity donations directed at school focused causes but also to rally the stock!

Live large this weekend and dress spectacularly!

Monochromatic Navy

My favorite color has always been Navy Blue.

1Slap on a hat to add a fresh feature.

Walked around a zoo in the scorching heat with the bambinos – hat turned out to be a really great choice – although I could have used a conductor’s hat!

Prada skirt, ScoopNYC tank, Havaianas flip flops, Joe Fresh hat.

Small Window Flash!

Trench coats allow a small mercy…

get a great coat and you look FAB!  Even when racing for the school bus, running behind schedule and wrapped up with a dog’s leash.

Jeans, t-shirt, ballet flats or heels and an amazing trench…

Ba-Da-Bing!   But only until the warm weather arrives, then the outfit needs to count just a little more.

J Crew classic trench @ $ 298.00

Joe Fresh @ $49.00

J.Crew is a FANTASTIC option for a gorgeous trench at a wallet-friendly price (LOVE THAT!).  Joe Fresh offers a bright print option on the trench and at $49 it is a no-brainer!!!  Click the blue and buy one of them!

Dolce & Gabana trench (click here for more on this trench) Club Monaco pyjama pants, Gucci patent pumps, Missoni glasses.

Fashion & Finance Friday!

F-R-I-D-A-Y reversecommuter hearts you!!!!!!!!!!!!

CFDA announced it’s honorees last night and Proenza Schouler (click here to read about reversecommuter’s love affair with Proenza!) came out as a lead contender in two categories.  There was also the UBER cool media award to be presented to Tim Blanks – the KING of fashion reporting and founder of  (kind of an idol of reversecommuter!).  Click here to read the full list of nominees.

Go Joe!

Joe Fresh may have to save J.C. Penny – that’s alot of pressure on a little Canadian!

J.C. Penny is opening Joe Fresh pop ups inside 681 of the department store’s locations this morning!  J C Penny has not lived up to investors’ expectations, REALLY horrific Q4 earnings were just released and a board member was selling chunks of shares (bad!!).  No item will be over $69.00 at the Joe Fresh J C Penny pop ups…so GO JOE!  reversecommuter is a BIG Joe Fresh fan, since I discovered the brand and the interesting story behind the founder and his equally amazingly talented Pink Tartan designer wife (click the blue to read more).

Suck it up!

There is a battle brewing between Sara Blakely of SPANX (click here to read all about this AMAZING entrepreneur!) and Yummie Tummie (and RHONY) Heather Thompson over who copied who’s gut sucker upper technology.  reversecommuter doesn’t want to predict the legal outcome, but just wants to express her gratitude to said technology!

Have a fashionably spectacular weekend – complete with a glass of champs and a slinky skirt!

Snooze is the New Black!

Deep Freeze in New England starts today.  BRRRRRRRRR…maybe it’s time to hibernate?

cold layers rc

Or maybe reversecommuter sees it merely as a fantastic excuse to wear new jammies, silk pajamas to be specific.  Well, the top atleast with a pair of jeans.  Although the bottoms with a long sleeve t and a cashmere sweater would also be a great choice!

Silk Jammies RC

Equipment makes the cat’s pajamas, if you will…MEOW!  (Click here to drool at Equipment’s jimjammers)

Equipment PJs

reversecommuter’s silk pjs are from Joe Fresh, for a whopping $40.  (click here to go peruse Joe’s clothes)

Just be sure to buy one pair to wear outside and one for the boudoir!

Shovel This

HH thought it would be funny to watch me shovel the driveway.

Obviously he was beyond right!

Atleast my 50 kazillion-billion ply cashcash turtleneck kept me warm. (click the blue for the meaning behind “cashcash”).

I found this turtleneck in a nondescript little store in Florence and it is my all time fave.  Super lovely inexpensive holiday treasure.  Ridunculously thick too…purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

The best thing about cashcash is that there are so many options available, at many price points.  Did you know that J.Crew’s cashcash is made out of the same fine material as Loro Piana?  (click the blue to shop J. Crew’s cashmere shop).  And Joe Fresh sells cashcash sweaters for $40!  So layer layer layer and purrrrrrr all day!

Not for nothing but a condo in the city does not include snow shoveling.

Mother jeans, Burberry vest, Rocco P. for Barneys boots, Hermes belt, Chanel sunglasses.

Ciao Prada!

Sometimes investing in a great piece is worth it…uh, cancel that, not “sometimes”ALWAYS!!!!!!!!!

Two years ago in NYC reversecommuter splurged in the Prada boutique in Soho (by the by, SUCH a COOL space!!!!), and bought this fab skirt.

So now, even when waaaaaaay out in the burbs, surrounded by TRACTORS and HAY, the Prada skirt still makes me happy.  Maybe even happier than ever before!

So the next time you find yourself questioning the wisdom of a high priced purchase, remember the words of reversecommuter,  “DO IT!”
