Fashion & Finance Friday!

Blogging with an ocean view is not as easy as it sounds – the temptation to play is way to great!  That is my excuse for a late submission today, can you really blame me?

IMG_0004New York Fashion Week is officially underway.  Devastated as reversecommuter is to have missed Jonathan Simkhai‘s crazy good show yesterday, at least I can drown my sorrows with a phenomenal margarita beachside.

YVL_1294 The signature ‘meshiness’ of his clothes makes me want to invest and layer up in Jonathan Simkhai pieces from head to toe, now and with the new Fall 2015 collection.

Ready for a clever segway?

Moda Operandi, the online boutique of immediate fashion gratification, has just received $60 MILLION Series E financing, with the most generous funding coming from Boston’s own Fidelity Investments.  Great news for any fashion fan who NEEDS/WANTS the latest luxury fashion directly from the runway.

The lines Moda Operandi carries include Jonathan Simkhai.  See how I did that?  🙂

Speaking of clever, chalk up another brilliant business move by Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon. Amazon just signed on as a major sponsor of Fashion Week, (starting with the upcoming Men’s Fashion Week), but reversecommuter predicts with the opening left by the departing Mercedez Benz, perhaps Amazon’s deep pockets could help NYFW like not many other sponsors could…

Bezos has grand fashion inspirations for Amazon (click here for more) so this new relationship is so very important!

Enjoy the weekend, ignore the impending snow storms and pop the cork on that champs with wild abandon…while wearing something romantic & fabulous!

Fashion & Finance Friday!

Happy Happy Weekend!!!!!!

Gucci won a $144.2 MILLION settlement against the fakers!  Online fakes to be exact.  The judge also demanded that over 150 url’s be given up as well, so that the online businesses that sold over 20 different versions of Gucci bags can no longer operate.  Take That!!!!!  (pic outside of the Gucci Museo in Firenze!)

Change is a good thing, even when sudden.  Moda Operandi’s creative director, Taylor Tomasi Hill, has left the company.  Rumor has it that the departure was because she didn’t get her promised share in the company.  Happily, the goddess of all things Moda Operandi, the UBER wondrous Lauren Santo Domingo is still making sure all the prettiest things from runways make it onto the site for dedicated online fashion addicts (like me!).

Christopher Bailey, Burberry’s designer and Chief Creative Officer, has been named Chief Executive Officer – CCO & CEO and a mad plaid designing machine!  Christopher is also an internet GENIUS who first invited regular shoppers into the guarded universe of runway shows by streaming the show onto the company’s website.  Investors did not seem too excited about the selection and Burberry’s shares closed down.  I for one am quite excited to see what else comes forth from Brit Boy Genius!

Enjoy the weekend  & wear heels to leaf peep!
