Velvet Noir

Marc Jacobs forgot to invite me to Monday’s Marc Jacobs Beauty Velvet Noir mascara launch party in NYC.

Luckily for this blogger Sephora chose me to preview the new mascara before its official launch.  Thank you!

It is now available online, $26 and it can be yours – click here!
Cute packaging with stylish Marc Jacobs branding.  Easy application.  Definitely a lengthening and volumizing mascara.  Not to mention a really great price point.

One little drawback is how quickly the raccoon eyes started to form underneath my eyes.  With so many mascaras on the market that are tried and trusted, not to mention the limited time a mom has to actually put on mascara let alone monitor for black smudges, it’s a very good thing Marc has that clothing line too!

Happy to test drive some of the gorgeous Spring 2016 Collection…

Cold as a Witches What?!

Winter has officially arrived.  Coldest week of the year here in Boston right now.

Seriously, this blogger needs a palm tree.

There is a silver lining to this cold bleak grey week.  I blame German dockhands for my happy warmth.

Wellenstyn jackets were originally made out of sail cloth, a material strong enough to withstand wind, cold and damp.  It’s like the shipyards of Hamburg are sister ports with Boston.  Brrrrrrrrrrr Frauline!

Glencheck, navy blue, camel, black, royal blue, metallic, grey, red, lime green, what’s your pleasure?  Any choice will deliver delirious warmth, perfect for building snow forts or surviving snowball attacks!

Waist length, car coat or bomber?

Down, faux fur, three in one shell with a vest to wear once it all thaws out?

Done, done and done.  There is even room to dabble in the mens section if you want a different cut.  Or surprise your man with a crazy warm winter coat!

There are now four Wellenstyn stores in the US, one in California, one in New York City, and two outlets, one in Chicago and one in Wrentham, MA.  Jackets at the outlet run around $400-600, and worth every single penny when the temperature is zero – not including wind chill.  #hatewindchillmorethanbangs

All Wellenstyn jackets are either waterproof or water resistant – this is very good news for anyone who lives where “Nor’Easter” is part of the forecast!  Plus each jacket style has its own adorable name.  Obviously “darling” called to me.

“Schneeauber” means snow magic in German.  reversecommuter thinks Wellenstyn may be a perfect synonym.

Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) has been printing fashion news daily since 1905.  Until April 24, 2015 that is.  WWD has now morphed into a weekly publication that launched Wednesday April 29th.  To celebrate this HUGE publication, WWD Weekly dropped SIX different covers with some extremely fascinating fashion stars!

#WWDWeekly has caused quite the murmur amongst those in the fashion world who start each day with an expresso and a read of the daily.  Fret not Fashion Pets, there is a new digital daily edition that will be emailed to existing subscribers, and now there is yet another reason to celebrate Hump Day as that is when the weekly will come out!

Lucky Magazine (*full disclosure – reversecommuter is a contributor) has announced that their social media maven of an editor, Eva Chen, has announced she will be leaving the magazine.  There is also an unconfirmed rumor that the magazine will be going completely digital!

As a result of the editor and possibly editorial changes at Lucky Magazine, the upcoming May 7th Lucky FABB bloggers conference is postponed – bummer as reversecommuter had just booked a equally FAB hotel room at the W and was planning outfits…

File under Fun Fact:  Did you know that John Paul DeJoria (handsome dark haired owner of Paul Mitchell hair products) is also the owner of Patron Tequila?  His annual income of 2.8 BILLION is a testimony to an awe inspiring drive – he started Paul Mitchell with a $700 loan.

reversecommuter not only loves the smell of Paul Mitchell’s awapuhi shampoo (seriously, give it a whiff) but I am officially obsessed with the work ethic of this man – I have a new hero!

Enjoy the weekend – slip those perfectly pedicured piggies into something open toed and raise your silver julep cup to all the drop-dead hats and outfits at the Kentucky Derby!

Sunshine & Scales

Animal prints, a basic addition to any wardrobe.  Why not bring out the animal instinct with the Sunshine?

Leather Jacket Replaces The Puffer

“Puffer coats make me look slim”, said no one ever.  Winter coats are necessary, warm and usually wide.

Now that March is here the outerwear options expand instead of your appearance!

Fashion & Finance Friday!

Friday of a loooong weekend – Everybody Dance!

John Galliano has landed.  Maison Martin Margiela has signed Dior’s former designer was handpicked by Renzo Rosso (controversial billionaire owner of Diesel, Maison Martin Margiela, Marni and Viktor & Rolf) as MMM’s creative director.

Let’s hope they celebrate with sparkling water as alcohol produces anti-Semitic rants a la Galliano.  shame.

Choupette you little minx!

Stretching all her furry fabulousness all over the OPEL car, posing for her calendar spread while being shot by none other than King Karl! purrrrrrrrrrrrr  (that one is for you Cowboys&Crossbones).

FLOTUS knows Fashion – or atleast holds one heck of a designer laden luncheon.

Michelle Obama hosted the White House’s first Fashion education workshop, that she thought up with Anna Wintour last year while re-opening the Costume Institute.  Providing hands on workshops for fashion students while mingling with designers such as Prabal Gurung, Zac Posen, Bibhu Mohapatra and Naeem Khan, and Lucky Editor Eva Chen.  FLOTUS was on trend with her beach waves hair and a navy sleeveless racerback dress that was designed by one of the FIT students – how cool is that?!?!  Only question reversecommuter has is where was Ralph Lauren and Anna Wintour?!?

Slap on your favorite Louboutins, pour the champs and toast the weekend!
