Trapped at home with a sick little one?  Soothing a sad sniffling sweet pea?  No worries, you can still look killer while enjoying cabin fever!

Add a Zara denim shirt  on top

and a cute knit hat from The Third Piece and boom – Dr. Mommy is rocking it fierce in the ‘burbs.

A t-shirt from T by Alexander Wang in papaya will add instant luxe and sunshine to any grey winter day.  The Outnet almost always has a smattering to offer, so why not save a little…and then buy more.

MOTHER denim’s The Dropout Fray (worn with bare feet) will make you believe it’s summer, simply add a light cashmere sweater and a smile!

Pajamas just for bed is so yesterday, or at least last night!  Piamita’s silk cherry pajama top is the epitome of the cherry on top!

Just don’t let anyone wipe a runny nose on a dry clean only!

Red White Blue & You!

Happy Almost July 4th Weekend!

IMG_9208

I decided to celebrate early to give you a last minute chance to overnight a cute outfit for the loooooong weekend.

Look+04+Rosie+Assoulin+R16

RED is for Rosie.  Rosie Assoulin’s red for Resort 2016 is available now at Moda Operandi and practically begs for sparklers!

(reversecommuter’s red Rosie Assoulin pants are from the Spring 2015 Collection)

White belongs to Jonathan Simkhai (the SIGH is silent in his name but OHSO there in his clothes!).

K1016-O_large

His white cutout oxford dress is the perfect piece to take you from picnic to pier to fireworks!

Blue is all about ALC’s Santo Sleeveless Dress.  Can’t you just see yourself zipping around the corners in your antique convertible, scarf tied hair, racing to get to the party?!  Classic elegance and ease wrapped up in a sale price!

Raise the champs flute to the Red White and Blue, and while you are at it, celebrate you!!!!!!!

Fashion & Finance Friday!

Blogging with an ocean view is not as easy as it sounds – the temptation to play is way to great!  That is my excuse for a late submission today, can you really blame me?

IMG_0004New York Fashion Week is officially underway.  Devastated as reversecommuter is to have missed Jonathan Simkhai‘s crazy good show yesterday, at least I can drown my sorrows with a phenomenal margarita beachside.

YVL_1294 The signature ‘meshiness’ of his clothes makes me want to invest and layer up in Jonathan Simkhai pieces from head to toe, now and with the new Fall 2015 collection.

Ready for a clever segway?

Moda Operandi, the online boutique of immediate fashion gratification, has just received $60 MILLION Series E financing, with the most generous funding coming from Boston’s own Fidelity Investments.  Great news for any fashion fan who NEEDS/WANTS the latest luxury fashion directly from the runway.

The lines Moda Operandi carries include Jonathan Simkhai.  See how I did that?  🙂

Speaking of clever, chalk up another brilliant business move by Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon. Amazon just signed on as a major sponsor of Fashion Week, (starting with the upcoming Men’s Fashion Week), but reversecommuter predicts with the opening left by the departing Mercedez Benz, perhaps Amazon’s deep pockets could help NYFW like not many other sponsors could…

Bezos has grand fashion inspirations for Amazon (click here for more) so this new relationship is so very important!

Enjoy the weekend, ignore the impending snow storms and pop the cork on that champs with wild abandon…while wearing something romantic & fabulous!

New Year’s Cleanse

No green juices involved, unless you so choose to sip some delish juiced veggies while reading this post.

New Year, New You.  Time to take a break from the parties, the cocktails and all the other parts of the decadent life.   Why not do the same to your wardrobe?

Champagne2

Closet Cleanse 2015!   Pull those pieces that you have not worn in over two years, and put them in a box.  Seal the box with tape, label it with a sharpie and record the date, all the while sniffling back the tears as you say adieu to those overalls, suede pants and fluorescent anythings.  Put the box in the attic / basement / garage / etc, and revisit it in six months.  If you’re closet resembles anything like Cher Horowitz’s (aka Alicia Silverstone in Clueless) then do 3+ boxes!

img-vogueclosetcleaningtips_130923692861 10vogue-600

If you haven’t missed any one piece uncontrollably, as in waking in the middle of the night tear-streaked cheeks from sobbing into the pillow yearning for that mustard yellow pilled sweater, then give that box of previously passionately loved clothes to a charity of your choice.

Incidentally, this is a picture of the closet at Teen Vogue’s office – dare to dream people, dare to dream!

Funny reversecommuter story: my husband had a meeting at The New York Times and accidentally got off on the fashion floor – can you imagine?!?!?!?  He said he realized that if I had been with him he probably would never have seen me again!  LOL & painfully accurate!!!!

Go reward yourself with the purchase of something that has been sitting in your Moda Operandi or net-a-porter wish list.  Maybe something in Pantone’s Color of the Year Marsala? Purging never looked so good!

White Stuff

Here we snow again… while I run around groc shopping and filing my home with exotic fresh flowers (my answer to yet another snow storm)…

Why not ooooh and aaaaaah about some gorgeous white stuff – like this shirt dress with an exposed back from Rosie Assoulin, a designer reversecommuter is mildly obsessed with.  What Rosie does with material is deconstructed magic!  Click here to buy it now on ModaOperandi.com (speaking of reversecommuter obsessions….)

Alexander McQueen has another drool worthy dress on net-a-porter.com that definitely has a spot inside my fantasy shopping cart!

One selection for the shopping cart of reality is the Abby dress from Club Monaco

Unknown-2

Obviously Jonathan Simkhai’s eyelet dress – which interestingly is in both shopping carts with an amazing design and equally friendly price!

Fashion & Finance Friday!

Happy Happy Weekend!!!!!!

Gucci won a $144.2 MILLION settlement against the fakers!  Online fakes to be exact.  The judge also demanded that over 150 url’s be given up as well, so that the online businesses that sold over 20 different versions of Gucci bags can no longer operate.  Take That!!!!!  (pic outside of the Gucci Museo in Firenze!)

Change is a good thing, even when sudden.  Moda Operandi’s creative director, Taylor Tomasi Hill, has left the company.  Rumor has it that the departure was because she didn’t get her promised share in the company.  Happily, the goddess of all things Moda Operandi, the UBER wondrous Lauren Santo Domingo is still making sure all the prettiest things from runways make it onto the site for dedicated online fashion addicts (like me!).

Unknown-1

Christopher Bailey, Burberry’s designer and Chief Creative Officer, has been named Chief Executive Officer – CCO & CEO and a mad plaid designing machine!  Christopher is also an internet GENIUS who first invited regular shoppers into the guarded universe of runway shows by streaming the show onto the company’s website.  Investors did not seem too excited about the selection and Burberry’s shares closed down.  I for one am quite excited to see what else comes forth from Brit Boy Genius!

Enjoy the weekend  & wear heels to leaf peep!

Mark my words, that shoe is mine…
