Gladiator Sandals

WWSW?

What Would Spartacus Wear?  It is THE shoe question to pose for the coming Spring season.  Perhaps Alexander McQueen‘s patent leather S&M inspired glads?

Gladiator Sandals are stomping back into our closets louder than a tour bus crowd entering the Colosseum.  Lead the pack in Gianvito Rossi’s suede low wrap sandals?

There is a dizzying array of styles and designers offering up the loveliest lace ups, reversecommuter is having trouble making a decision (quelle surprise!).  Valentino’s delicate laced up version is so gorgeous that for this shoe I would wrangle a lion or two.

Chloe’s gladiator offerings come in a flat or heeled version, both in a beyond-buttery suede just begging to be caressed…or worn.

Any shoe trend that allows my feet to be comfortable, run around after the banditos AND deliver  a look that makes my husband raise an approving eyebrow is ALL GOOD, even with the extra 5 minutes it will involve to lace these beauties up!

Fashion & Finance Friday!

FINALLY FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!  Can you hear the cork popping?

Neiman Marcus announced strong profits – must be a relief in this economy that they found a buyer (click here to read about the crazy cash rich Canadians!).

Milan Fashion Week has brought the big dogs onto the runway – Prada, Gucci, Fendi, Max Mara and DSquared to name a few impressive names!  Next up Paris…

Speaking of Fendi (reversecommuter is LOVE LOVE LOVING the furry fabulousness of Fendi’s Fall Collection), the fashion house has opened a palatial palazzo in Milano.  This is a great move as the flagship in Rome is less than awesome.  I was recently in Rome and was SO excited to go get myself a little furry piece of deliciousness and was so disappointed with the store and selection.  Mental note to self – next trip go North to Milan!

Hope you have a stylishly spectacular weekend – slap on heels to go buy the grocs & mimosas for absolutely no reason!

Fashion and Finance Friday!

Hellllllo Weekend!

apologies for not posting yesterday, here is my excuse   🙂

Fendi is coming to the aid of the Romans, or at least to the aid of Trevi Fountain in Rome.

The fashion house is investing $2.9 MILLION to repair and restore the famous fountain and all the gorgeous gods that stand and spout over 80,000 cubic meters of water, Ocean, Abundance and Health.  (click here to visit the Trevi Fountain website).

This admirable move is reminiscent of what Diego Della Valle of Tod’s did for the Colisseum in Rome (click here to see the earlier post).  Not only do these fab Italians design gorgeous clothes, bags, shoes, furs, etc etc, but they also have SO MUCH class and loyalty to their beautiful country!   reversecommuter applauds!

StuperBowl Sunday (tee hee) is February 3rd and the commercials are absolutely the best part (unless of course Beyonce decides to actually sing at half time!).  The 30 second slots go for an average cost of  $4 MILLION!  Sometimes it is worth every single fabulous penny…click here to giggle and sing along with VW!

Happy Weekend – and don’t forget to wear heels to the SuperBowl party!

Fashion & Finance Friday!

OHEMGEE!!!  Friday is here again!

J.C. Penney has some rather influential friends in it’s corner.  Nina Garcia tweeted a positive message regarding the retailer and KERPOW the stock ticker popped up 10%!  Nina signed on as the JC Penney “Style Voice and Fashion Collection Currator” on July 18th (see full press release here).  But it was the power of her tweet that sent the JC Penney stock waaaaaay up – bet the executive team that brought in the mighty Nina Garcia are pleased as punch with themselves!

Joe Fresh (Canadian H&M-esque retailer) has signed on to be part of the instore boutiques to be launched in the new & improved J.C. Penney stores.

Seems as though JC Penney wasn’t kidding around about completely changing the way they deliver retail.  reversecommuter is intrigued and thought it might be interesting to casually track the stock’s performance.

The ticker is JCP.  This should be fun!

Diego Della Valle, the owner of Tod’s (Italy’s butter soft luxury shoe and bag company) is shelling out 21 MILLION Euros to restore the Colisseum in Rome.

I wonder where he is going to put the little nobs?

Happy Happy Weekend!
