Tickled Hot Pink!

Hot Pink is the new black!

Literally, it is THE color of Fall 2013.

Stella knows it  (click here for Stella McCartney’s website)

Brian Atwood knows it (click here to be taken to Brian Atwood’s website aka Shoe Heaven!)

Acne knows it (click here to be taken to ACNE, mild obsession for reversecommuter!!!!)

Alexander (all hail!!!) McQueen has it locked in with a bootie that will make you NUTSO!!!!!!!! (click the blue to be taken to Alexander McQueen)

More importantly, Michael Kors (and reversecommuter) knew it in Spring 2012…..

(that is my dress) and now all I have to do is find the perfect black patent platform pumps to update it for Fall!

Which Way is Up?

Sometimes real life and the fashion world can seem a little confusing.

Retail stores are clearing out all things Summer 2012.  Or it is already all gone.

Pre-fall items are already trickling in, and full force Fall 2012 is en route and I am BEYOND giddy about that!  (see picture below – me, giddy)

However…there is a big ol’ heat wave pummeling the East Coast right now so once again I am going to pay homage to my absolute FAVE bikini designer, SHAN.

Click here  to ooooooh and ahhhhhhhh, then call one of the Shan boutiques and get yourself a little something to wear in the 100 degree heat!

Or, just drool on this gorgeous Fall 2012-2013 wish list.

Petals and PJs

Prints and p.j.’s look to be staying around for a little bit – or so say the new Resort 2012/2013 collections.

Marc Jacobs is a master on both and I am LOVING his resort, as seen on Moda Operandi  (another true love of mine).

Resort Collections are a funny breed – not as serious an investment as the Fall Collections yet more quirky than the Spring Collections, and smaller in quantity than either as well.

The influences this year have been the Amalfi Coast (Tory Burch), Flora Patterns (Gucci), and my favorite influence, a search for “great, wearable clothes”, (Proenza Schouler), because who doesn’t want that?

Start saving those pennies for your winter vacation wardrobe, because the designers have definitely brought their game!  Or…..the other fun option is to hit the current Spring 2012 sales (everyone is on sale right now) and invest in the petals and pi’s that are discounted!

Forcing it!

Still chilly and not warm enough to really qualify as Spring. I’ve decided that like the flower bulbs in a greenhouse, I’m forcing the season…through bright clothing & shoes!

I know I mention Diane von Furstenberg a lot, I love her designs, clothing and prints. Another reason to love DVF is that the pieces are timeless – I’ve had this dress for 4 years.

Remembering & Appreciating

One year ago, Japan was stricken by a tremendously powerful earthquake and tsunami, the destruction and suffering that followed is something not to be forgotten.  The fortitude with which Japan rebuilt is inspiration at its best.

As a means of paying tribute to the strength of the Japanese people, please click on the link to enjoy the Spring 2012 fashion shows of Issey Miyake and Yohji Yamamoto.

To Dye For!

Helloooooo new obsession!

Isabel Marant’s tie-dye Spring 2012 is beyond!  The jacket, the jeans, the little t-shirt dress, the jumpsuit….ooooooh deliciousness all round!  Happiness = Isabel Marant just announced the company is planning on opening eleven new stores in 2012-2013.  Yay!

James Perse has a great t-shirt in either black or blue tie-dye as another option.
