Sunshine, Derby Juleps and the Weekend!  Trifecta!

Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) has been printing fashion news daily since 1905.  Until April 24, 2015 that is.  WWD has now morphed into a weekly publication that launched Wednesday April 29th.  To celebrate this HUGE publication, WWD Weekly dropped SIX different covers with some extremely fascinating fashion stars!

#WWDWeekly has caused quite the murmur amongst those in the fashion world who start each day with an expresso and a read of the daily.  Fret not Fashion Pets, there is a new digital daily edition that will be emailed to existing subscribers, and now there is yet another reason to celebrate Hump Day as that is when the weekly will come out!

Lucky Magazine (*full disclosure – reversecommuter is a contributor) has announced that their social media maven of an editor, Eva Chen, has announced she will be leaving the magazine.  There is also an unconfirmed rumor that the magazine will be going completely digital!

As a result of the editor and possibly editorial changes at Lucky Magazine, the upcoming May 7th Lucky FABB bloggers conference is postponed – bummer as reversecommuter had just booked a equally FAB hotel room at the W and was planning outfits…

File under Fun Fact:  Did you know that John Paul DeJoria (handsome dark haired owner of Paul Mitchell hair products) is also the owner of Patron Tequila?  His annual income of 2.8 BILLION is a testimony to an awe inspiring drive – he started Paul Mitchell with a $700 loan.

reversecommuter not only loves the smell of Paul Mitchell’s awapuhi shampoo (seriously, give it a whiff) but I am officially obsessed with the work ethic of this man – I have a new hero!

Enjoy the weekend – slip those perfectly pedicured piggies into something open toed and raise your silver julep cup to all the drop-dead hats and outfits at the Kentucky Derby!

Fashion & Finance Friday!

Hot Diggity it is finally here!!!!  Happy Friday!!

Fashion reporters make news too.  Sartorialist favorite Bruce Pask for instance, (nope, he isn’t just some impeccably dressed dude who happens to always get snapped!).

imgres-5

Pask, formerly the men’s fashion director for the New York Times, has joined Bergdorf Goodman as the most magical retailer in the universe’s men’s fashion director.  CONGRATS!

And not to leave out the ladies, The New York Times has scooped Vanessa Friedman, ultra classy fashion editor of the Financial Times, as fashion director and chief fashion critic.  Vanessa will be replacing UBER fashion journalism institution Suzy Menkes, who announced she was leaving the NYTimes last month.

Accessory Designer of the Year is a PHENOMENAL KNOCK DOWN DRAG OUT between The Row, Proenza Schouler and Alexander Wang.

This year’s host is the eccentrically moustached John Waters, and the magnificent man of all this sexy, Tom Ford, will be honored for Lifetime Achievement.  CFDA what a powerfully packed event June 2nd promises to be!!!!

Pop the champs, throw a strawberry in the flute and enjoy your fancy self!

I’d Wear that to the School Bus Stop!

reversecommuter is pretty sure that during all those hours studying their inspiration boards, that was the phrase designers were hoping to hear!

I have taken the liberty of scouring the Fall 2014 Collections just presented at NYFW, and have come up with 5 looks that will be rocking the Bus Stops & School Drop Offs in September 2014.

Michael Kors.  No surprise that the KING of preppy classic has delivered.  His collection was all about fur scarves (click here for more), camel coats and monochrome grey gorgeousness.

Marc by Marc Jacobs (now known as mbmj) brought a fun collection to the runway, inspired by Power Rangers, offered numerous mommy fashion possibilities – and to be honest, we are kinda like superheroes every. single. day.

JCrew_021_1366.450x675

The J. Crew catalogue arrives in the mail.  Therefore there are no excuses not to be all cute and florally while waving goodbye to the wee ones at the bus stop. Loving how the puffer jacket works with this.

Row_012_1366.450x675

The Row’s Fall 2014 is one of reversecommuter’s favorite collections.  It is so luxe and stylish yet easy to wear and incorporate into an existing wardrobe.  I am SO lusting over one of the coats!!!!  This outfit shows the possibilities of warmth, layering, a rich palate and feasibility of clothing and lifestyle playing nicely together!

RAG_0154.450x675

Texture, color, layers, shine, shimmer and bodycon cute.  All of this describes Rag & Bone’s Fall 2014 Collection.  Not only does this design duo, Marcus Wainright and David Neville offer arguably one of the THE best jean lines, but their ready to wear is Ga-Ga-Ga-Gorgeous!  Audiences on the bus will hands down vote you hippest mama in the ‘burbs!

Thank you Style.com for the photos.
