Happy Almost July 4th Weekend!

IMG_9208

I decided to celebrate early to give you a last minute chance to overnight a cute outfit for the loooooong weekend.

Look+04+Rosie+Assoulin+R16

RED is for Rosie.  Rosie Assoulin’s red for Resort 2016 is available now at Moda Operandi and practically begs for sparklers!

(reversecommuter’s red Rosie Assoulin pants are from the Spring 2015 Collection)

White belongs to Jonathan Simkhai (the SIGH is silent in his name but OHSO there in his clothes!).

K1016-O_large

His white cutout oxford dress is the perfect piece to take you from picnic to pier to fireworks!

Blue is all about ALC’s Santo Sleeveless Dress.  Can’t you just see yourself zipping around the corners in your antique convertible, scarf tied hair, racing to get to the party?!  Classic elegance and ease wrapped up in a sale price!

Raise the champs flute to the Red White and Blue, and while you are at it, celebrate you!!!!!!!

Seeing Stars & Snowflakes

Impending snow storms normally freak me out – note wonky facial expression in photo…

photo 5

unless cute hand-knit star adorned hats are involved…

photo 2-1

Especially at 15% off when you enter “stay warm” – click the link, shop and save and look ridunculously cute walking the dog, meeting the school bus, sitting at the game etc.

photo 1-1

reversecommuter profiled this hot home spun business back in 2013 (click here) and I predicted beautiful wooly greatness

Unknown-1

Now 5th Avenue behemoths Henri Bendel and Bergdorf Goodman are fighting over themselves to get the Boston bred Third Piece goddesses to bring their wares to NYC trunk shows throughout the year!

Girl from IPPOLITA!

Actually I met THE girl from IPPOLITA –  IPPOLITA Rostagna, not the girl from IMPENEMA.  But it makes for a fun title and is SUCH a great song so what the heck!  🙂

IPS1

IPPOLITA is a gorgeously talented creature who delivers one of the best gold, silver and gemstone jewelry lines available.  reversecommuter had the pleasure of meeting her in person at Bloomies.

IPS3

reversecommuter always assumed IPPOLITA was out of Italy.  IPPOLITA‘s head office is actually in New York City (where IPPOLITA now has a free standing boutique too!), but factually I was bang on – IPPOLITA Rostagno (founder, designer and namesake) is from Firenze!  Now back to the gorgeous sparkly bits…

IPS7

reversecommuter has rarely met a sparkly bit she doesn’t like!

IPS2

No exception this time either – I am all about finding the perfect pinky ring this Spring (rhymes!) and I think I have shortlisted 2 serious contenders:

IPS5

Truth be told, this is my fave, and IPPOLITA agreed!

IPPOLITA, next trip to NYC I am coming by to buy!  Grazie Bella!

Baked Goods, Goats and Coats!

Allow me to wax on about a lovely little bakery in a little suburb in Wellesley, Massachusetts.  It’s called SUSU and it is simply divine, with all of it’s cinnamon muffins, cupcake camps, cakes and cookies.  Oh, and it’s couture & cashmere trunk shows.  Insert “WHAT?” here.

DSC_0014

Yup, SUSU is hosting a trunk show 11/18 & 11/19 highlighting some exquisite talent in the area of CashCash (click the blue if you aren’t familiar with cash cash…), and couturier level clothing, with two designers with MAJOR designer pedigree.

DSC_0048

FJALL (Swedish for Mountain) is a cashmere line designed in Rhode Island, spun and created in Como, Italy (helllooooooo George Clooney!!).  The Como mill, land and goats have been owned by one family, for generations.  The designs include peplum waists, cableknit ponchos and cashmere sweatshirts (OH YEAH!!!!!!).  FJALL creator,  Lisa Kasabian, has also included her trade secret non-pilling process on each of these beauties…and yes, of course I tried to find out the specifics of the secret….no luck.

DSC_0021

Lisa worked for Ralph Lauren in knitwear design, and one look at these creations and instant luxe recognition occurs!

DSC_0024

ISOUDE is the creation of classically trained couturier Kate Brierley, formerly a designer with Ralph Rucci.  (Click the blue to visit the website, complete with online shopping!)

DSC_0043

Already written up in Vogue, WWD and Towne & Country (HELLO, THAT IS INCREDIBLE!!!), Kate is dedicated to creating pieces her clients can invest, collect and live in, “dressing up and being comfortable, with versatility with sophistication”.

DSC_0041

Kate believes that clothes need to be beautiful, not mass produced.  She believes that “the quality of a line by the inside of the garments”.  ISOUDE represents the “European mentality of owning a few great pieces, and wearing them out!”

DSC_0038

SUSU is not just another pretty, flour-sprayed baking goddess, she also has phenomenal fashion friends!

Hat Hunt

It’s over.  It was challenging and sometimes even exhausting…

reversecommuter did her due diligence, at Scoop NYC (the reindeer number was my running have…), Steven Alan (uber cool shop had quite the impressive selection…)

hat7 hat8

But I found it.

hat9

The perfect slouchy beanie.

The Third Piece (click here for more) had their trunk show last night in Boston at Cafeteria, and perfection was found. The Ope Hat in sapphire, now otherwise known as reversecommuter’s!

Here I am with the founder, Carina (hours before she jetted off to NYC for another trunk show at Henri Bendel – this line is HOT!!!!).

Click here to buy your own…because I am not sharing!

Knit Wit

Hello genius knit line the third piece (click here for the website).

What started as a therapeutic outlet for an awkward teenager (and who wasn’t one?!) has evolved into a fashion line that is on the cusp of tremendous!  Shout out to the biology teacher/student counselor that taught founder Carina how to knit!

carina

Carina (gorgeous, sweet, uber fashionable, gifted founder) has a background in fashion, and has always had a passion for creating beautiful chunky knits.  “I’m like a bag of skittles – I love color!”  Met a pal at a boot camp class who happened to be a whiz in finance, et voila, the third piece became a company.  Now employing 5 full time knitters and getting recognition with industry icons…like Henri Bendel!

Unknown-1

the third piece was invited to Henri Bendel’s open see, and the Fifth Avenue legend picked up the line, then invited them back for a trunk show, and now is also home to the exlcusive New Yorker oversized scarf that wraps twice and has cable pockets.  November 17th there is another trunk show back at Bendel’s flagship store, but if you can’t wait just call and order one!  1-800-HBENDEL

The line offers the turban, the hooded infinity (Carina’s fave piece “never have a bad hair day”), the Ope hat (named after the character on Sons of Anarchy), and the mini MITT (2 glove styles in one!).  100% merino wool sourced in NYC and hand knit in Boston.  But don’t be scared, the line is gentle in pricing despite all of these impressive design facts!

Winter is the season of dark clothing.  the third piece is the perfect way to add some luscious rich fun colors to the palate!  Just in time for a little holiday shopping come to the Trunk Show November 13th 6-8pm at Cafeteria in Boston (click here for directions).  As if reversecommuter wasn’t already in love with the knit designs of the third piece, guess what the name of the trunk show is?  “KNITS & CHAMPS”.  sigh, I think it’s love.

Who Needs Betty?

When you have Veronica Beard that is!  (Click the blue to visit their oh so pretty site)

VB3

reversecommuter had the pleasure of attending a trunk show for the Fall 2013 Veronica Beard Collection at Greta Luxe.

VB4

The Veronicas aka Veronica Beard, are sisters-in-law and mothers, and their line of clothing is smart, sophisticated and dedicated to their clientele, whom they so clearly can identify with!

VB7

Quite possibly the very best fitting, best tailored blazer in my closet (click here to read about my love of the Veronica Beard blazer), the attachable collar and cuffs is such a brilliant innovation in women’s wear.  The Fall 2013 Collection continues to deliver…furs, leather, floral prints, blazers extraordinaire, etc.

VB6

Leather that has movement from a peplum back detail, and can be worn as a stand alone piece or with a shirt underneath….clearly leather is HUGE for Fall 2013.

VB5

Florals that deliver style, femininity and seasonal warmth…interesting that the floral craze of Spring 2013 is also extending into Fall 2013

VB2

This black & green vivid print was my fave, and as is clearly denoted in this ‘interesting’ picture, I NEED/WANT it!

Snow Job

Jonathan Simkhai (fave new designer, click here to read all about it) had a cocktail event held at the W Boston over the weekend.

jsw10

Models were littered throughout the lounge, sporting Spring Collection 2013 gorgeousness!

JSW6

The lines and tailoring on his jackets are beyond!

jsw8

Outside the city of Boston was shoveling it’s way out of 2 feet worth of snow from yet another storm, yawn.  Meanwhile inside it was all about flowers, silk, sleevelessness, leather t-shirts, shorts, skirts and fabulously cute little dresses.  What a perfect oxymoron!

JSW5

How good is this black leather sleeveless top?

jsw9

Champs, uber talented designer, drool worthy clothing, chic W interior, excellent choice for a night out!

jsw12

New Love!

It is such a very rare event to find a designer that creates clothing just for you.

DSC_0112

Every single item fits perfectly, would compliment your existing wardrobe, and offers something amazing and new, all at the same time!

DSC_0115

It is my pleasure to introduce you to NYC designer Jonathan Simkhai (click the blue to go directly to his website).

reversecommuter had the pleasure of hanging out with Jonathan Friday night at an event at the W Boston (more on that tomorrow), then again on Saturday at Louis Boston (click here to read more about Louis) for a trunk show.

DSC_0114

Jonathan is a member of the CFDA Fashion Incubator Program (click here to learn more), suffice it to say the CFDA has taken a considerable interest in the talents of Jonathan Simkhai…uh, get in line!!!!!

Leather softer than butter and lighter than cashmere (where did he find those skins??!) – reversecommuter tried on a white leather t-shirt that brought tears of joy to my eyes…and that is no exaggeration! Silk prints and solids that seemingly floated when I walked. Wide legged pants that somehow flattened the stomach area (what girl out there dislikes that concept?). Expertly tailored, clean cut lines, subtle details that make you NEED/WANT the clothing even more than you did on first sight.

DSC_0113

Jonathan chose this outfit for me – no exaggeration, I didn’t want to take it off! The silk wide legged pants are from Spring 2013 Collection, the PONY HAIR & LEATHER T-shirt (OHEMGEEEEEEE!) is part of the Fall 2013 Collection. RIDUNCULOUS! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
