Cold as a Witches What?!

Winter has officially arrived.  Coldest week of the year here in Boston right now.

Seriously, this blogger needs a palm tree.

There is a silver lining to this cold bleak grey week.  I blame German dockhands for my happy warmth.

Wellenstyn jackets were originally made out of sail cloth, a material strong enough to withstand wind, cold and damp.  It’s like the shipyards of Hamburg are sister ports with Boston.  Brrrrrrrrrrr Frauline!

Glencheck, navy blue, camel, black, royal blue, metallic, grey, red, lime green, what’s your pleasure?  Any choice will deliver delirious warmth, perfect for building snow forts or surviving snowball attacks!

Waist length, car coat or bomber?

Down, faux fur, three in one shell with a vest to wear once it all thaws out?

Done, done and done.  There is even room to dabble in the mens section if you want a different cut.  Or surprise your man with a crazy warm winter coat!

There are now four Wellenstyn stores in the US, one in California, one in New York City, and two outlets, one in Chicago and one in Wrentham, MA.  Jackets at the outlet run around $400-600, and worth every single penny when the temperature is zero – not including wind chill.  #hatewindchillmorethanbangs

All Wellenstyn jackets are either waterproof or water resistant – this is very good news for anyone who lives where “Nor’Easter” is part of the forecast!  Plus each jacket style has its own adorable name.  Obviously “darling” called to me.

“Schneeauber” means snow magic in German.  reversecommuter thinks Wellenstyn may be a perfect synonym.

O.W.O.

Kinda digging the O.W.O. posting every Monday (click here for the definition!)

Busy first weekend of Spring.

Funny how fast those two days fly by!

Saturday morning was my last long training run before the Boston Marathon (just one little tiny month away!!!!).  It is an amazing experience training on the Marathon route with hundreds of other runners, you see some incredibly inspiring individuals, are greeted with a ton of happy smiles (despite the miles), and on occasion even get a high five!    Boston Strong INDEED!

Still chilly in Boston so reversecommuter’s shearling is still getting used.  Rumor has it there is yet ANOTHER snowstorm coming on Wednesday – so not in Vogue!

How do you say CashCash in Italian?

When would there be a better time to oooooh and awwwwwww over cashcash than during yet ANOTHER snow storm?!  (click here for a cashcash explanation/definition)

reversecommuter went to Italy and discovered an incredible jewel…Chianti Cashmere.

cc7

Nora Kravis came to the Chianti region from the US, over 35 years ago, and luckily for all of us, she and the cashmere goats settled in the most beautiful hills in a rustic farmhouse, and created “the Louis Vuitton of cashmere”.

cc6

reversecommuter is the ridiculously lucky owner of quite a few pieces from Chianti Cashmere (quelle surprise!) and I can vouch for the luxurious softness of their scarves, blankets and wraps.  Click here to shop!  (what a gorgeous phrase that is!)

CCA

Chianti Cashmere just gave their website a major overhaul – which in itself is amazing as Nora was over in Hong Kong at an international convention then jetted over to Iran and Kashmir to educate the farmers on sustainable cashmere practices.

cc4

Oh, and did I mention the U.S. government contracts that she is working on in regards to sustainable farming.  Nora = Superwoman…and I am not just saying that because I LOVE her cashmere!

Reality vs Fantasy

Or in my case, COLD vs HOT, as in the weather.

It is June 5th and I am wearing a sweater, A SWEATER!!   It is grey (the weather – the sweater is pale blue) and wet and cold and awful (again, the weather, the sweater is dry and soft and warm).  And sometimes it reminds me of Flashdance (the sweater, the weather doesn’t really remind me of anything).

Instead of harping on the weather (too late perhaps?), let’s take a look at some beach appropriate options!
