Bergdorfs Meets Lycra in the Burbs

Bergdorf’s in the burbs?  Dare to dream!

Unknown-1

First thought that popped into my head when I experienced LEGIT activewear, an online and retail boutique in Wellesley, MA, a suburb just west of Boston.

reversecommuter has been upfront honest about my dislike of the unimaginative yoga pants suburban mom uniform.  Legit is here to change it up.

Owner Lisa Goldberg (warning, she will instantly seem like your super fab sophisticated city girlfriend) single handedly tracks down the most intriguing design lines that will shake the lulu lemons right out of their tree!

LEGIT activewear is like the legitimizer of workout clothing.  Designer clothing for actual workouts…it is like the directions on how to wear lycra are found right in the name of the store.  Take what you worked out in off after the activity, but feel free to wear the gorgeous jackets, outerwear, cashmere, etc all day long.

Tennis lines such as Monreal London and Adidas by Stella McCartney, brilliant colors and the necessary tennis white all included.

Banging out those pre-marathon miles just got a whole lot sexier.  Leggings from Lucas High, Michi, Charli Cohen with mesh, neon, ribbing, cutouts, seriously these are the clothes that make you jump out of bed and want to hit the pavement!

Spinning class outfits just got so real you are going to ask them to keep the lights on so your outfit gets appropriate admiration time.  Snakeskin prints by Human Performance Engineering, and Ultracor’s Camo crops and leggings with a shock of brilliant yellow neon beg for a SoulCycle diva showdown extra long class!

Yoginis rejoice!  More Spritual Gangster than you thought possible and Out Incorporated’s mesh side leggings will make the most stylish zen bendy in town!

Pheel blends lycra with metaliics to deliver a superhero feel to any workout, and let’s face it, carving out time to workout is a superhero feat with our schedules ladies!

Cool down jackets and wraps from lines such as Nesh, Vimmia and Alala will make it imperative to run a couple of errands after your workout, too luxurious a statement not to make.

See you at the checkout line…or is that the now Chic-out line?

Snow Love Set!

There is a winter weather advisory posted for reversecommuter’s suburb.  Champs anyone?  Bubbles really are the absolute perfect answer to any question or situation!

Naturally that triggered an intense online retail therapy session, for tennis gear!

M34397_21_hover_modelYup, sleet and snow and freezing cold temps cannot stifle a fashion addict’s love of sport and sportswear!  How is that for a warm-up jacket?  Putting a real slice into the wardrobe!

My current obsession is anything adidas by Stella McCartney creates.   Sporty, functional, unique and creative in design = “in basket”!!!   These tennis shorts offer the flair of a traditional skirt with the flexibility and sportiness of shorts – stellar offering Stella!

This dress was worn out at the U.S. Open, looks super cute on a multitude of body types and comes in earth hues that flatter every skin tone – like I said, “IN BASKET!!!!”

Monreal London is a tennis line created by a fashion industry warrior, and is a line that reversecommuter is in absolute LOVE with (isn’t the tennis lingo SUPER fun to throw into sentences?).

The sticker shock is real but the design and fabric selection is truly divine!

Look at that jacket and skirt combo – that would absolutely have a positive impact on my serve!!!!!

Pheel is another workout clothing label that would bring MAJOR PIZZAZZ to the court or the gym!  Speaking of snow and exercise and fabulous clothes – Leopard leggings would be THE cutest snow shoveling outfit ever…..

Things Are Looking Up!

That was the view from the W Hotel Boston‘s rooftop.

reversecommuter had the pleasure of doing Tara Stiles‘ yoga class, on the ROOFTOP of the W Hotel Boston (cool right?!).

You don’t even know cool until you take The Yoga Rebel’s yoga class, on the rooftop of the W Hotel in Boston, listening to funky tunes, bending your body into contortions and being a rooftop warrior while watching planes fly by, all the while drooling over Tara’s UBER fab striped pants & cow face pose tank which she designed for REEBOK.

reversecommuter was barely able to contain herself and not start online shopping on her iphone while on her yoga mat I was SO in love with this outfit -the pants sadly are not available, but the tank is mine!  OMMMMMMMM!

Fashion & Finance Friday!

Bring on the LOOOOOONG Choco-Bunny Weekend!

“It’s good to have goals.” – One of reversecommuter’s favorite mantras, and it appears the same can be said for The Gap Inc.  in regards to China.  Gap has 81 stores in China and is planning on adding 30 more shops this year.  Gap Inc. will probably consider introducing additional Old Navy, Banana Republic and Athleta stores into China in the next 2 years.

Unknown-4

The Gap wants to reach $1BILLION in sales in China by 2017.  How do you say “Khaki’s Everywhere” in Mandarin?

The world’s total clothing spenditure is $1.4 Trillion.  If Gap Inc. hits $1 Billion by 2017, reversecommuter shudders to think how very similar everyone’s outfits will be.  At the risk of ranting (on a Fashion & Finance Friday no less!), fashion is not about looking like everyone else, nor is it about mass producing inexpensive, poor quality clothing – that puts garment workers in developing countries at risk.

King Karl once again proves his regal worthiness.

Unknown-2

Despite the shared opinion of reversecommuter and Karl Lagerfeld (um, how much fun was that sentence to write?!?!?), it seems as though the fashion world’s love of all things workout-y is expanding.  How is it that the suburban masses of yoga pant uniformed housewives are influencing Paris, Milan, New York and London?!?!?!  net-a-porter is rumored to be expanding the website into workout wear, Tory Burch is about to launch her workout line, and Lululemon is about to launch their “&Go” line of everyday clothing.

Tory Burch being “influenced” by recognizing a lot of women wear their gym clothes all day makes reversecommuter once again ask “how is she considered a leading designer in fashion?”.  And if designers waive the white flag and surrender their creativity based on the bored masses in their yoga pants and unkept ponytails, this era will be more horrific than the 80’s shoulder pad debacle.

Unknown-3

reversecommuter appreciates gorgeous, stylish workout clothing probably more than most, perfect example is this adidas by Stella McCartney top I just nabbed on net-a-porter.com, but I will be wearing it to work out in, and then I will shower, float around on my endorphin high and change into other clothes!

Easter Weekend is upon us, get ready for happy, giggly children, pastel outfits, chocolate bunnies, egg hunts, family time, sugar highs, and Easter bonnet parades (my absolute favorite Bill Cunningham spread in the New York Times Fashion section of all year!!!!).

Dress up, smile for all you have and add some champs to that glass of o.j. at Easter Brunch!
